Hmm pictures would not post . I will try again later .
What is the part on a sword that protects your hand from getting cut by another sword? The reason I ask is I'd like a sheath knife that had the moulded handgrip and the guard too. (Cross guard?).Not a crkt fan.. not bad for 30 dollars but the lock sucks.

I don't like to think of a knife as a weapon. Personally I don't want to let anyone questionable that close to me! I do think that that having one as a backup in a pinch is smart though. Right now I only carry a multi tool with two different knives on it. It is really a tool only and would make a lousey defensive weapon. If shtf I would start carrying a sheath knife, or two. I really like the knowledge of a rifle being able to stop an aggressor from a long way off.
I haven't had one of the locks to fail but saw one that was very hard to unlock to fold back up . Also the extra lock that keeps the lock from unlocking that I never use can be engaged by accident, not a problem but I dont think its necessary. Not a crkt fan.. not bad for 30 dollars but the lock sucks.

Really just a clarification. As with most things, the more you learn about one thing, the more you realize how much you don't know about it.
Both are nice. Even before reading the reviews I thought the all metal one would be better with a grip. After all the 'wet' talk, being able to hold on to it is probably a good idea. I like the guard on the illustration. Even though you're not sword fighting with a knife, having some added protection for your lead hand seems wise to me.
That's a mean looking weapon. .View attachment 7388
You can get the all metal one then cord wrap the handle? That'll improve the grip. There's fairly large bowies that are meant for knife and sword fighting. Maybe you'll like those?
I guess if I was pressed into a knife fight I think the bigger the better would apply for me. Somehow I'd feel better with a sword than a knife. Mechanically, I think I'd have more coordination with a long blade than a knife. The good thing about a knife though would be the element of surprise. Them not knowing you were armed until the last second would give an advantage. Here's to hoping I am Wiley enough to advoid any situation in my lifetime where I would have to use a knife as a weapon. Peeling vegetables and fruit with one is much preferred.Really just a clarification. As with most things, the more you learn about one thing, the more you realize how much you don't know about it.
