My moms vet 100 miles away charges $600 each time he has to remove cancer. My local vet wants $170 for urgent care just to see if the eagle talon hole in my cat needs antibiotic (yes it does). If business is so good, they should open another facility instead of calling everything after 1pm "urgent care".

About an hour ago I went out to the barn to get another chicken waterer. As I bent down to grab the handle I couldn't help to see the rattler coiled up behind the waterer. Almost had a hand full of rattler. Good thing I didn't send the gkids up to get it. Of course I shot it.

I hate to tell you, if you went to my wife’s clinic it would probably 500 For the talon hole. 3 Dr. 24/7 + staff, costs get spread to everyone. Specialists on call. I think you got a deal.

I thought it was from an eagle being there was a spot on each side of him, but they found a botfly in one side so I don't know if it was just the botfly or if it went in through an existing wound. Either way, you were very close with your $500 estimate... It came to $426.

We drove the kids home today. Very smokey from the fires. The fire near us doubled over night. And hot. Coming through the canyons it was 103 degs. Here at the daughter's place its 82 degs, but a little muggy. She lives on the river.
I guess the kids have something planned for my birthday tomorrow. Actually my birthday isn't until the 28th but my son thought he'd have tomorrow off work, but it looks like he's busy and can't make it.
