A True Doomsday Prepper
Lots of kids “in the system” have some problems, health and emotional and some been through abuse and hell. Some may never fully recover and should never be in the same room with weapons. Some are born with problems and got those problems from their parents.
With all that said, brand new healthy newborns have no problems getting adopted.
Translation: If they aren't perfect we don't want them. Less than perfect equals disposable.
Here's a concept I adopted a "less than perfect 2 year old with learning disabilities, developmental delays, speech impairments and a host of problems and loved him anyway. Just as if he were my own that I carried in my body I spent a lifetime with him in physical therapy, speech therapy, tutors etc. 40 years later he is a healthy middle aged, college educated extremely successful business owner with a beautiful home, wife and 2 kids ( 1 adopted also). His father and I worked our butt off to make that happen.
All these women who we are going to force to have babies they are unwise, unlucky or irresponsible enough to conceive without being able to financially or emotionally care for. Do you think they are all going to give birth to "brand new healthy newborns". Your words. The alcohol and drug addicted, the young and foolish, the illegal immigrants and the prostitutes.
That half a million kids will swell to double that and your tax dollars will take care of them all. And the backstreet butchers will get rich off of the poor mothers and they will die in record numbers from infection and complications. And the rich politicians will simply take their daughters out of the country to have it done safely.
That's definitely the answer.
Somewhere in the middle there has to be a better way.
Revamp family planning, focus on education on reproduction and prevention of pregnancy and disease and not gender choice. Programs to provide free contraceptives to the poor.
Maybe set up review boards in selected hospitals made up of physicians and psychologists and put the decision back in the hands of the medical profession on which cases are medically warranted. Kind of like transplant reviews. First trimester only and extreme cases. Clear guidelines and limitations. That would also eliminate the recreational repeat customers.
