Yep Texas is almost Louisiana.
And yet... so not. *whew*
ROTFL
Howdy neighbor!
Yep Texas is almost Louisiana.
I just wanted to say (a little belatedly) Welcome! Try not to sweat it...getting started (or getting organized) is better than not doing anything at all. Like everyone else said...one thing at a time or little bit here and a little bit there....just do SOMETHING...that is more than most...sooner than you think you'll look at what you have an be amazed at what you've accomplished.
Hubby wants to move to FL but he hasn't been to TX other than once. I can't understand the FL attraction for him (other than the warmth)...I on the other hand would love just about ANY southern state...so long as it is warm year round. TX seems to be a great place and they have some awesome laws and an attitude about life that appeals to me.
Especially without storm shelters. Not sure of your altitude, but considering your only about 5 hours north from me, I know we can't build them here or the would flood. We get the occasional tornadoes, mainly when a hurricane comes in.Thanks, everyone! C'mon to Texas - it's fine and plenty of room!
I'm in tornado alley as well, however my exact location is in a bit of a valley - so they tend to wing right past us every time.
When I was 15 we had 3 tornadoes in one day - in Monahans TX - I think it was 1975. It was crazy scary!!
Not everyone from California will agree with the squatters that are starting to surround you. I was born and raised in Northern Calif. and I can tell you the best parts of the state have nothing to do with the people or their politics. It is a Socialist-Liberal oppressive environment. The best part is the weather and the fact that there is so much variety with things to do. Ocean fun, skiing in the Sierras, lakes and rivers everywhere. I also lived for 2 years in the North Houston area and I liked it very much. I'm currently planted in the Baton Rouge area but who knows where I'll end up? So, welcome, put your feet up and stay awhile.jimLE, we have so many Californians moving here in the Dallas area it's insane. They come here for the better economy and job opportunities - and then bitterly complain that we aren't like California and how much better it is there. Holy hell, batman, then MOVE BACK. There's a reason Texas is in better fiscal shape than CA. Don't come here and try to make us you. We won't allow it. Gitta rope.
Yes, I've had more than a few such arguments in the past 8 years or so.

It's so expensive here, I can see why people leave the state. Gitta rope that's funny, don't judge all us Cali's from a few.
