I just wanted to say (a little belatedly) Welcome! Try not to sweat it...getting started (or getting organized) is better than not doing anything at all. Like everyone else said...one thing at a time or little bit here and a little bit there....just do SOMETHING...that is more than most...sooner than you think you'll look at what you have an be amazed at what you've accomplished.

Hubby wants to move to FL but he hasn't been to TX other than once. I can't understand the FL attraction for him (other than the warmth)...I on the other hand would love just about ANY southern state...so long as it is warm year round. TX seems to be a great place and they have some awesome laws and an attitude about life that appeals to me.

Wow, we are late to the party huh ! Well said Chicknladee.

Welcome aboard MistiLoo !!

fl is one place i dont wanna be dureing hurracain season..texas is where i am and wanna stay :) my only problem when it comes to my exact location.we get tornados time to time. :(

Thanks, everyone! C'mon to Texas - it's fine and plenty of room!

I'm in tornado alley as well, however my exact location is in a bit of a valley - so they tend to wing right past us every time.

When I was 15 we had 3 tornadoes in one day - in Monahans TX - I think it was 1975. It was crazy scary!!

Especially without storm shelters. Not sure of your altitude, but considering your only about 5 hours north from me, I know we can't build them here or the would flood. We get the occasional tornadoes, mainly when a hurricane comes in.

jimLE, we have so many Californians moving here in the Dallas area it's insane. They come here for the better economy and job opportunities - and then bitterly complain that we aren't like California and how much better it is there. Holy hell, batman, then MOVE BACK. There's a reason Texas is in better fiscal shape than CA. Don't come here and try to make us you. We won't allow it. Gitta rope.

Yes, I've had more than a few such arguments in the past 8 years or so.
Not everyone from California will agree with the squatters that are starting to surround you. I was born and raised in Northern Calif. and I can tell you the best parts of the state have nothing to do with the people or their politics. It is a Socialist-Liberal oppressive environment. The best part is the weather and the fact that there is so much variety with things to do. Ocean fun, skiing in the Sierras, lakes and rivers everywhere. I also lived for 2 years in the North Houston area and I liked it very much. I'm currently planted in the Baton Rouge area but who knows where I'll end up? So, welcome, put your feet up and stay awhile.

Then there is still hope for CA. Maybe northern should form their own state.

Over the last couple of decades I've become a bit of a secessionist. On the Payne side of my family tree is a great x? grandmother that was the first natural born US citizen of European descent. Generations of my family fought and died for the USA. I am the mother of 2 veterans. I am the sister of a veteran. I am the aunt and cousin and niece of 6 active duty personnel. So, I do not make such statements easily nor lightly. However, this mess we have is no longer what they sacrificed for.

Wait.... did you just call me an ###?

ROTFL

You no we don sa it rite. We don sa ask we sa ###. Lik ### what U wan 2 no. Sounds like you almost married me. I'm the funniest, smartest, sweetest Cajun there is. LOL Texas is in the Southwest section but any one can come to ours. As far as I know, there isn't going to be a meet in any of the west sections. So all you guys are welcome to come to meet with us. We will have a good time and get to meet other members face to face. We have some from Texas that are going to be with us. Welcome again to you and your ###. LMAO

Mastercajun, i can tell I'm going to have to keep a careful eye on you... smooooth talker! Lol

When is LA meet n greet? It isn't possible for me to head far west to NV, CA. I have work and Daddy battling cancer. The home team is winning so far, but I like to be near as I can be.

It would be nice if you could make it. Bill, Jim and I will be meeting in Monroe, La. and following each other. That way if anything happens, we won't be stuck on the road alone. You are welcome to join us. As you know us coonasses take care of OLD Texas women. HA HA HA HA. As you see, I'm never serious.

The meet and greet is in West Tenn. We made it there so more people would be able to make it and not one person would have to travel so far. I have no doubt a fine looking like you would be a beautiful and charming site at the meet. Hows that for smooth?

I can't travel so far away as TN right now. Sure would love to drag my old bones out there though. LOL

Maybe next year the timing will be better.

Smooth talkin' Cajun man. Woooo-weee. ROTFL

It's so expensive here, I can see why people leave the state. Gitta rope that's funny, don't judge all us Cali's from a few.
