I transferred a patient out to a hospitalist that I consulted on for an interventional cardiologist today.
The lady had a procedure in the cath lab -- came in as an outpatient for this cardiologist and he called me in a panic when she had a complication.
Then they asked me to transfer her, write the orders and tell the hospitalist to assume care.
I signed her out to the hospitalist, made sure the correct orders were in and the hospitalist didn't want to assume care, just wanted to consult (rightfully so). Cardiologist was upset with me. Told him to take a hike, it's his patient.
This is literally the kind of crap we deal with in addition to all the other drama.
I can't stand the prima donna attitude. No sense of ownership at all.
