I read an article about a week or so ago (sorry, do not have the linky) that the engineering was actually done back in 2019 by the Central Banks, and then they took even more advantage of the lockdowns to kick the collapse can down the road, while the biggest wealth transfer in history took place.
Now, they are in the position to weather the collapse, the rest of us are screwed.
