Food shortages are here and getting worse.

Mike Adam’s was talking about the barges and the Mississippi today. Said a lot of the farmers goods were sitting on the side of the river waiting their turn to transport.

This all means higher prices for food , animal feed and even petroleum products OR not being available at all .

A rule of thumb I have always seen is 1-2 acres per person needs to produce for a year's worth of food. A back yard with 1/10 of an acre a couple and then two kids like most suburban homes...isn't going to swing it.

Do you (or anybody) still have HAND TOOLS??? Can you plow, till, harrow? Do you have Sickles and Scyths to harvest any wheat or other grains? Do you have storage and milling capabilities which do not need electricity??? Do you have a well and at least a hand pump to water your crops? Is you land fenced in to keep "most" animals and thieves outside? Are you and yours ready and capable to defend your crops "to the death"?? Can you fish and hunt nearby enough to supplement your lives?? Do you have the medical, metal, wood and water capabilities needed to sustain your lives through a SHTF situation where you can no longer get any supplies, gasoline, oil, welding supplies, propane or batteries for your lights and do you have the knowledge and practice to forage for the needed foods and energy for a single winter after your preps are eaten up???? Do you even have an outhouse for your hygiene needs and a trash dump far away from your living area to keep the rats and smell away???
Get yourself together and get ready for the "maybe" inevitable for which we are all getting ready for and do not forget the ULTIMATE need in survival.....

Sleep cold, eat cold, work cold and hot, drink warm (not cold) self-made teas, wear dirty clothes, have no toothpaste or brush, no friends over to grill (or trust) and only have the God you have found before this all started...NO TV, no radio, no internet, no entertainment or TITTY-tainment, no McDonalds and no cash or credit to get something you need/want/desire to be able to enjoy life....and all the time...sleeping with one eye open and gun in your hand on top of all this...someone out there is just waiting for you to close your eyes for the right second to take your stuff, life, wife and burn the rest down. I think a lot of people have not thought "prepping" through. They have thrown a few supplies into the garage (not realizing how temps destroy the nutritional quality) and bought themselves a firearm and call themselves preppers. They have a small 20x40' garden in the back and are mortgaged to the hilt.

While something is better than nothing, riding it out for longer than a week or two takes what you mentioned above. I expect that "refugees" will come in waves to the countryside.

Those who "prepped" but not enough, will be in the second wave and possibly more dangerous than the first.

The closures disrupted the flow of newly harvested grain from Midwest farms to export terminals at the Gulf Coast, where some 60% of corn, soybean and wheat exports exit the country.

Maybe it will turn out for the good of all Americans if the Food grains DO NOT GET EXPORTED this winter. I am afraid you are more right than it is good for you there. The waves of refugees all the way from South America made it thousands of miles SOMEHOW, (with what money or thieving means, nobody knows) BUT they made it.
The millions living in the cities without water and food will not have so far to walk to your and other ranches or farms around America and some of them will not get a Free credit card or health services...they will come with guns and a hunger vengence against those who the Government has told WHO IS GUILTY FOR THE LACK OF FOOD....

Worse, for us, they are demonizing farmers specifically...we and our farting cows are responsible for global warming, red algae blooms, poisoning the water, using up all the water, upsetting ecosystems, food shortages, food prices, we are all a bunch of dumb plow F***S, sitting back taking government subsidies for no productive value...they have been doing this for decades and no one said anything...the list goes on and on.

No farting cows for me...yet. When I do, they will be the mini variety. The neighbor at the BOL2 runs about 1000 head all over the county. His dad and grandad were the County Sherrif. My problem will be keeping our four footed transportation safe.

Well even the smaller versions of farting cows can and could be used effectively to STAMPEDE a few hundred roving thieves into the dust and make a lot of fertiliser for your grazing lands, OR am I thinking wrong? Part of the protection in that area (Town) is natural and topographical. It is basically an island via large deep rivers with wide boggy riparian zones. Only a few bridges across. By no means a fortress but, there are easier targets to be had.

...and, I have cattle horses that can sort, cut, rope AND stampede if needed. LOL. I also have a rather nice bull whip I acquired at a flea market. I also have a Husky that has repurposed himself as a cattle dog since we rarely have snow!

There are examples of folks being able to survive on less. A key I have noticed is you would still need the ability to trade for wheat, oats and hay or other type of feed for your animals. You would need bees to replace sugar…or grow enough stevia to replace it.

Salt would need to be bought or traded.

BUT, anything under 2 acres for a family of 4 at minimum wouldn’t work in my humble opinion.

Raising small animals…chickens and rabbits…will give you more food calories than vegetables with less work and lower expended calories.

Reminds me of what has been, and still is happening in Southern Africa to whites. Many have been killed and their lands taken and given to blacks…who have no clue how to run them, grow food, or raise animals.

In the US hoarders really got their identity clarified by the TV shows about them. As a VF, I have seen cases of true hoarders.
Come to think about it I did as a kid- used to go to my GP friends cottage 2 doors down. Rafters were stuffed with broken down 40’s cereal boxes in the 60’s. But I always came home with a cereal box toy. Wished I still had some of those in the cellophane.
