Have you thought about?
Robert Bork - Nominated by Reagan for Associate Justice of the Supreme Court on July 1, 1987 was rejected by the Senate with a 55 seat democrat majority in the 100th Congress.

On February 18, 1988, the 100th Congress confirmed Anthony Kennedy instead. Kennedy served as Associate Justice of the Supreme Court until July 31, 2018 -during the first Trump Presidency and 115th Congress with a republican Senate majority of 51 seats.

On December 19, 2012, Robert Bork passed away during 112th Congress with the Senate firmly in democrat control with 51 seat majority which was followed up with a larger democrat majority staring January 3rd 2013...during the Obama administration.

I would like to point out that had the democrats not done, in 1987, what they are about to try again now, they would still have control of the Supreme Court even after Barrett's confirmation.
The liberal block could have consisted of:
Sotomayor, Kagan, Roberts, Breyer + whatever "liberal ideolog" Obama would have nominated for Bork's "seat". You know the Romney/Bush RINOs would voted for whatever marxist Obama nominated.

The more Constitutionally agreeable bloc would only have:
Thomas, Alito, Gorsuch and Barrett but not Kavanaugh because he could not have succeeded Kennedy (would not have been on the SCOTUS) or most likely Obama's "liberal would've been ideolog" either.

It sucked for Bork but may have saved our Nation for another generation...and to think, democrats brought this all on themselves.
