Food shortages are here and getting worse.

We will see Doc, we will see. I am only happy that the price gougers cannot do what they want to and steal money from strangers like what happened in Houston when hurricanes come and the price goes to over $5 a gallon...
We cannot hoard gasoline here (or just store a bit extra for the generators) because the fuel is so made or treated that is goes bad after only a month or so...I changed to a diesel car now so I can at least stock up on that. Gotta do something about the generator now. Maybe change it to propane??
If you can find 93 octane gas, it shouldn‘t have ethanol. At least that is how it is here. Stabil/sea-foam helps with under 93, but not perfect
Dual fuel Gen is what I went with, Gas/Propane. Since then I have added 2 diesels, truck and tractor. So maybe I should gone with diesel.

Yep rationing was done for WW2. I hope we don't see it again, but guess we are in a way with limits on items. Seems like if a person complains, then they are automatically a HOARDER.
Was laughing my head off when I saw a clip of Elizabeth Warren blaming food prices and shortages on businesses that are price gouging. I think that she's hoping people will think that's very terrible, and the reason for the prices rising, and will scream for the government to fix it by fixing prices like good socialist governments do. Most people don't understand that it's the fault of the Fed and the constant money printing that's caused this mess. We even print money to give to other countries to make their economies go belly up, too.

THANKS but non-ethanol gasoline is not even produced hardly any more in Europe...I think maybe in Serbia since they still have so many older cars and two stroke engines...but a gas/propane generator would be my solution. Even better, a diesel motor generator.
I heard someone took an old VW diesel motor without a turbo, mounted it on a moveable pallet, put it in an outhouse and gets electricity for batteries, hot air from the exhaust for heating the greenhouse, hot water circulation from the waterpump from the motor also circulating in the greenhouse and can use the tranny for different speeds to run a water pump or an electric generator larger than the alternator already on the motor....all on an alternative idea for power...

Closest gas station to me has racing fuel, 96 octane for a price. Often thought about gallon of that to keep the 5g of 93 from going bad.
Everyones solutions are different.
Be well and safe!

so far I have been able to get what I want,,,, now on holidays or a big storm is closing in there will be things off the shelf,,but it has always been like that,,,, for now I am not worried about food shortages,,,, but that could change next week

With this coming fertilizer shortage, we won’t see the affect until after next harvest. I had seen somewhere recently where American farmers are busy securing animal poo for fertilizer. So perhaps we won’t be as affected as other countries. Time will tell.

Our problems will come from the fact that California is a major food grower. They will be the cause of huge shortages.

By moving the farms out of the natural growing areas and into the dry areas, they have complete control over the water supply.

You’ve got a point! Be sure to start your plants early this year and grow consecutively a few weeks apart. Top things coming out of Cali are: carrots, lettuces, tomatoes, strawberries…then things you can’t plant and get instant crops like almonds, pistachios and even oranges. Maybe Florida will save us with their orange crop.

I don't know how successfuly California will be in securing animal waste fertilizer since they seem to not want cows in their state. It takes a ton of fertilizer for crops. I bought a 50 lb bag of fruit fertilizer, that'll last me 3 years with what we currently have, and have a ton of animal fertilizer, but I'm not growing huge food crops, just big gardens.
