Interesting story that is relevant to this thread:
Apparantly, in the 19th century, there was a British army surgeon with a distingushed career of heroic service to Her Majesty.
Upon the death of this surgeon (James Barry), the autopsy revealed that she was a woman.
Evidentally, this woman passed herself off as a man to become a physician since women weren't allowed to be doctors...and had an entire military career, and died with her secret intact.
She was the first surgeon to perform a c-section where both mother and child survived, and made many other valuable, life-saving contributions to medicine.
I think it would make a great historical movie.
