I don't like poison as it seems like it's a crappy way for them to die.

Yeah, I used that once. It dehydrates them. Horrible....just horrible, so never used it again. At least drowning them is a little quicker. You can make a drowning trap with a bucket and a piece of PVC through the handle, with some peanut butter on it, and it will work every time.
