It is easy to say start over . . . but at that age it is hard. They are established in their community that they have grown to love over the years.. They have been able to continuously walk their dogs in the streets with no problems and go to the grocery store and malls without a care of something happening. When something like this does, their whole world is turned upside down. It is not easy to convince them to move at their age. .My MIL lived in a falling area in the city for years but because of who she was, was grandfathered and shown respect. She never had problems. . . They knew her.

This new group moving into Seattle dont know the old timers and are apparently not grandfathered into the current society to be watched after.

She needs to call the mayor and the police. Then her attorney. Her attorney can inform the mayor and the police chief that they will be held legally liable for anything that happens to her or her property. They are responsible for her safety and unless they resign, they can't just choose to ignore their responsibility.
Nope.

Town of Castle Rock v. Gonzales 2005

https://mises.org/power-market/police-have-no-duty-protect-you-federal-court-affirms-yet-again
The US Supreme Court has made it clear that law enforcement agencies are not required to provide protection to the citizens who are forced to pay the police for their "services."

In the cases DeShaney vs. Winnebago and Town of Castle Rock vs. Gonzales, the supreme court has ruled that police agencies are not obligated to provide protection of citizens. In other words, police are well within their rights to pick and choose when to intervene to protect the lives and property of others — even when a threat is apparent.

Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller announced that the city would create a “first-of-its-kind” cabinet-level department that would respond to calls on inebriation, homelessness, addiction and mental health.
So they will send a social worker to deal with a meth head on a rampage? Good luck with that!

My husband just said something interesting I did not know. In his days the most dangerous call an officer could go on was a domestic disturbance. There were more officers killed in domestic disturbance calls than any other nation wide. He does not know if it still is or not.

It is

My son hates those calls, he patrol rural areas only and back up is limited so generally he is on his own with his K9

As far as I can remember Police have said that . The last Police involved shooting In Our small rual area was a domestic situation call .
Also Iv heard several Officers say the worst crime scenes They have responded to are home invasions where the criminals find defenseless victims at home . What was supposed to be a burglary becomes very violent crimes .

You don't hear about many home invasions in our area. I think everyone is too well armed. I read in the paper alot about traffic stops where drugs are found, lots of cases of guys getting drunk or high and beating up their wives, raiding weed patches, people breaking into tool sheds and such and stealing. Some identity theft. Mostly I think it drug related crimes. Either people stealing to buy drugs, getting caught with drugs, or being stupid while on drugs :oops: My favorite was the one in the paper where 3 people got out in the mountains and got high and called the cops to come rescue them because they were lost and admitted that they were doing drugs on the 911 call. Stupidity is rampant.

Oh the Po Po would just LOVE to have a totally separate organization responsible for answering domestic disturbances. But they know that the first time a responder gets killed, they will have to start answering them again.

19 activists cited, 2 arrested on grounds of State Capitol
Group has been rallying outside Capitol since Friday night
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Twenty-one activists were cited or arrested Monday night during a peaceful protest outside of the Tennessee State Capitol.

NewsChannel 5 has been covering the demonstration since it began Friday night.

Demonstrators said they are trying to get face time with Governor Bill Lee to talk about defunding the police, demilitarizing the police, firing Metro Police Chief Steve Anderson, and removing the Nathan Bedford Forrest bust from inside the Capitol.

We're asking to bring the country together, we want to have a conversation, an open dialogue. No cameras around. Just have an open dialogue to see what we can change, what we can do better," said Dymin Cannon, one of the leaders among the group of demonstrators.

Monday night, the Tennessee Highway Patrol warned the activists that they needed to clear from the plaza outside the Capitol. The THP claimed the steps outside the Capitol needed to be power washed due to graffiti from separate protests. Troopers said arrests would happen after 11p.m. if people did not go elsewhere.

A group of people remained seated on the lawn outside of the Capitol, with their arms interlocked. After 11p.m., troopers began removing the activists one by one. Each person was picked up and carried away by troopers.

According to a statement from the THP, troopers detained 21 people. Nineteen were cited and two were arrested for public intoxication, said THP.

As demonstrators were being carried away, supporters were chanting the names Breonna Taylor and George Floyd. Their deaths at the hands of police have sparked a massive movement across the country to end police brutality and ensure equal treatment of people of color.

Organizer Dymin Cannon said the group of demonstrators is working with an attorney to make sure those cited and arrested are safe and released from police custody as soon as possible.

Cannon said a lot of work has been done to make sure the days-long protest is safe and also helpful to the community.

"We're one of the only protests where we come out and we feed the homeless. We're one of the only protests where we come out and give them masks, sanitation and cleaning supplies," Cannon said. "One of the only protests where we go by and clean up the plaza to make sure it's safe and clean for everybody to enjoy and use."

Cannon said the effort is being funded by community donations.

"Everyday people who come by and see what we're doing," Cannon said. "They see us feeding the people and they want to help. They can't be out here themselves, but they know if they can't bring their bodies, they can bring their monetary funds."

People who are able to demonstrate are coming from near and far.

Eric Alexander, of Memphis, told NewsChannel 5 it's important to set an example for his children. He saw the arrests as they happened Monday night.

"I've got two sons that I'm trying to do right by, trying to raise them," Alexander said. "I'm just a regular citizen. They come here with riot shields and stuff, what am I going to do about it? I was holding my sign. I'm just trying to speak my truth."

Organizers said they will remain on the sidewalk just outside Capitol grounds until Governor Lee will meet with one of them to talk about change.

"We will be back here tomorrow, and the next day and the day after that until he decides to meet with us and have a conversation," said Cannon.

Seattle CHOP organizer: 'I'm not here to peacefully protest'

Grayson said that they will not stop until their demands are met "by any means necessary."

"It's not a slogan. It's not even a warning," Grayson said. "I'm letting people know what comes next."

"If the Seattle Police Department turns in their badges, we'll have made a move forward," Grayson said.

The group has published a list of demands for the city council and mayor, including abolishing the police, prisons, courts and criminal justice system "as we know it today."
