OK so I had to post this BC I was dumbfounded by the situation today. With the Ebola situation getting more serious everyday one would think that every hospital, no matter where they are, would be on high alert. Well, to make a long story short and to the point, I was at the er, and the doc came in, no gloves, or personal protective equipment, NOTHING. Does the whole doc thing,check vitals, open wide say ahh, sticks a long stick down my throat, (hahahahah) but furreal leaves, comes back 20 min later and says, sorry I forgot, but have u traveled out of the country. I was like no, but its a little late now. I mean come on really?!?!?!

“Late afternoon on Wednesday, Oct. 15., we were made aware by the U.S. CDC of a guest sailing this week on board Carnival Magic who is a lab supervisor at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital. At no point in time has the individual exhibited any symptoms or signs of infection and it has been 19 days since she was in the lab with the testing samples. She is deemed by CDC to be very low risk. At this time, the guest remains in isolation on board the ship and is not deemed to be a risk to any guests or crew. It is important to reiterate that the individual has no symptoms and has been isolated in an extreme abundance of caution. We are in close contact with the CDC and at this time it has been determined that the appropriate course of action is to simply keep the guest in isolation on board.”

WTF?

Seriously, did EVERYONE who worked on this guy just decide to go on a vacation? No, they had plans, so why they hell were THESE folks chosen to have anything to do with Mr. I'm So Contagious I will Kill You?

Normally, I'd decry the way this fear is spreading faster than the disease...but in this case, such fear is warranted, as the folks we trust with this can't seem to get their heads out of their asses.

Folks in Texas were keeping their kids home from school, etc., and I can't say I blame them the more these stories pop up. Just sheer irresponsibility on the part of these health care workers, and each one of them should be charged with endangering 100's of folks.

seems like they are doing their best to get this ebola spread as widely as possible

anyone who does something like that,and know damn well that they have ebola,or something else contagious.should have medical license or other type of license.should have it taken away from them while they're still alive.and have attempted murder charges filed..on account in my book,thats exactly what their doing.committing attempted murder as long as the others are still alive..the stunt their pulling is a show of ignorance..i wont even leave the house when i have a common house cold

Just read a story where they've "quarantined" 12 contacts of Amber (one of the nurses). Of course, their definition of quarantine is literally "asking them to stay home and check their temperature twice per day".

Oh, great, no real enforcement, and such folks are surely going to obey this suggestion, right? No. They are going to still go grocery shopping, still go pick up kids from school, go to work, etc., etc. Morons. (both the CDC and the people being monitored). At least some businesses got it right. They put any quarantined folks on paid leave during the incubation period.

I did see where a school superintendent would not let a couple kids from west Africa enroll until they were cleared by the cdc. First govt. Person to wake up that I've seen yet.

what worries me here is the possibility that our local CDC here in Finland will try to hush-hush any possible real ebola patient so there wouldn't be any panic...they aren't so good in informing any way,what ever they are supposed to inform about,somewhat slow..

Lots of stuff going on. I was shocked when CNN finally put it on there about the health care worker being on the cruise ship. However the experts sat right there and stated the chances of anyone on board the ship getting Ebola from the health care worker were none to very slim.

Yet yesterday they told everyone that they still don't know exactly how the Ebola virus spreads. So which is it???

Makes you wonder, it really does.

They are saying she is negative for Ebola, however didn't they say at first when this stuff all started happening that it to 24 to 48 hours for the results to come back if they were positive or not? And now it's being done within 2 hours time.

blew propably my last fuses for this day..read an article from a local paper here,where some doctor told that people who worry are stupid, the authorities will take care of everything...
ordinary people do not understand anything about this disease,we doctors know,and it will never arrive here in Finland...

hmm,if/when it comes should I put on my bunny suit,mask and gloves and ask that all-mighty know it all doctor;what now???

Is it just me or do they need to start testing these health care workers to make sure they are sane.

Folks need to remember that the government specialists and emergency response teams do not know you personally and so they feel no personal empathy with you. To them you are either a number a statistic or a problem, for overwhelming proof look at the Federal response in place to Hurricane Andrew where they focused more on trying to disarm locals instead of feeding them. In the UK the London riots of a few years ago about 500 Black and asian youths rioted, looted and torched loads of buildings, the official response was to withdraw the police for THEIR own protection.

If you put blind faith in the authorities to protect you in a crisis then Sir's you are fools.
