So on the other thread which is becoming quite interesting and informative we discuss our CHOICE of go to jackets. On this thread I would like to ask people about if the tailor or modify their jackets to better suit their ""prepper"" needs ? For example removing velcro to quieten the jacket down, adding or altering pockets to carry MORE or specialist EDC gear? . I briefly got to know a lad who altered his jackets to better carry bigger flashlights, his walky talky radio, a baton etc. On another forum an American prepper had fitted zippers to the lower sides of his jacket to make it easier to access his side arm in a hurry, plus to make driving more comfortable with his large jacket on. One lady had fitted elastic to both the waist and hem of her favourite jacket to improve the wind resistance. Other had sown cash, a compass, etc into the lining of their coats.

On my favoutite two jackets One softshell one fleece I have added black nylon webbing to the edges of the inside pockets as the clips on my EDC torches , tac pens, knives etc kept tearing the pocket hem. I also added a few loops of the same webbing to better mount radios etc to.

Seems that whenever my favorite jacket wears out, they are no longer made. So I have to keep changing. Currently I kind of like the Dickies jacket with a built in hoodie, but the stitching is terrible and the seams come apart. I bought three of them in case they stopped making them.
