The general rule is a pack would weigh no more than 25% of your body weight. 20% is closer to ideal. Too much weight and you run the risk of injury. We do alot of long treks in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. Often we put on 10-15 miles trips while camping and fishing from 3-5 days. I can say I dont like packs over 50 lbs myself. Just something to think about.

no argument here, a good number of people isn't fit for long treks especially with packs over 40lb, I know healthy people that are not fit for packing!

Now, That is a comprehensive list. I like the look of that a lot.

getting stuff togeather to see what i have for a b.o.b.in which i had some things tobign with.bought some things..i created 2 diff list in a app that i have on my nook.one is for items i need to buy..and the other is for the stuff i already have.that list im just starting..

I have an app to keep up with my packing list called 72 Hours, it keeps up with expiration dates of items too, so you can switch out stock as needed

good idea about expiration dates..a list of the diff foods and thier expiration date be a pluse..

the app i have is called out of milk shopping list.i've created 3 diff list b.o.b needs b.o.b haves and b.o.b. food.and in needs im adding every thing i already have and still need..once i've done with that,i can delete what i do have already.then go into b.o.b. haves and add what i have from my shopping history..that way im not going back n forth just to add what i need to in correct folders..

I love the level of preparedness. I appreciate the list, and will use it to become more prepared for my family. Thank you.

I'll be quite honest I based my list a lot from bubbadreier, he had great ideas! I still need to pick up some loose ends and I know my bags seem like they are overflowing but thankfully they aren't (well.. maybe my first aid bag) I can post pics here if interested! I pack quite a bit because as a mother I have to make sure all my sons needs are met and that includes him having a functional mom. :) (also I didn't include my husbands tactical bag because its compact, but heavy do to the amo. Debating on if we should bring it in case of a bug out. )
