Duck was done half hour early. Drop back and punt.

Last night was hodgepodge of finger foods, shrimp, crab legs, deviled eggs, mozzerela sticks, bacon wrapped jalapeño poppers, veggie tray n dip, made up a cheese n meat tray, spinach artichoke dip, tortilla chips, little smokies in grape jelly n chili sauce, mini cupcakes, xmas cookies, apple crisp. Today is prime rib roast, asparagus, twice baked potatoes, a big salad. Will set out leftovers from last night to munch on throughout day.
We were awakened by upstairs smoke alarm going off about 4 something this morning. I jumped out of bed, smelled something like a wire burning. Checked everywhere in house up n down, couldn't find anything. Smell dissipated pretty quickly. Was up n down going around house smelling for something burning til I finally got up for good around 8. Nothing! No breaker's tripped, no smoke anywhere. Larry n I were sitting in living room last night and I heard what sounded like a critter in ceiling. It was 24 last night, wonder if something got in somehow and chewed a wire somewhere? Otherwise, no idea what it was. But that smoke detected blaring scared the hoo out of me.

Our son in law made lamb that had been slow cooked for 24 hours. It was amazingly scrumptious! Everything was great, but my favorite, besides the lamb, was the mushroom soup.
While we were at the BOL for Christmas, my son killed some ducks and I killed a doe. Yesterday we had coffee rub duck breasts and coffee rub venison tenderloin.
Fried Chicken livers w sautéed onions, Coleslaw, opened a quart of homemade canned potatoes, added butter, salt n pepper...
My daughter came for lunch yesterday and we grilled burgers and dogs,. I made cheese potatoes with the small new potatoes I just dug. We also had fresh green beans, squash and potato salad. Yes, 2 types of potatoes.
Made from scratch salisbury steak, mashed potatoes, and succotash
I cooked a meatloaf, mashed potatoes and sweat peas.

Wife bought some nice sourdough rolls, I bought some Pastrami and pepper jack cheese to make Phiily cheese steaks.

Last night we had shrimp cocktails for dinner. Then we realized that the shrimp wasn't cooked. Much better after the shrimp was cooked.
