UAW closing 5 plants

I'm sure everyone has seen it, General Motors is closing 5 plants and stopping production on 1/2 dozen cars including the chevy volt. And thousands of workers are getting laid off.

The title is not a typo. GM isn't doing this. The United Auto Workers is doing this. Do you remember, Obama let GM go into bankruptcy, made the stock worthless, and gave the new GM to the union. UAW runs GM, make no mistake. The union is laying off it's own members.

Does anyone remember when the unions would condemn the evil corporation when there were stockholders?

And does anyone remember when Obama said he'd buy a Chevy volt? He never got one, and it's one of the models getting cancelled. And at a time when electric cars are oh-so-popular, it's failing?

I still call GM 'government motors'. Another democrat success story.

I would say GM let GM go into bankruptcy. Obama, or any other President, shouldn't be picking and choosing who fails or succeeds, although, yes, you are correct and yes, it still happens.

It sucks, but markets change, recessions happen and people will choose where they put their money.

As far as the UAW being the entity behind the "new GM" LLC formed after chapter 11, no, I wasn't aware of that.

He's not incorrect. Basically, the union owned GM after that.

It's their own fault though. When you pay a guy $150 an hour to drive a forklift, you can't expect to be in business for long. While unions were a great thing for a while, especially when industries weren't so regulated....they have basically forced many industries into bankruptcy with outrageous wages and benefits that the companies simply can no longer afford to provide. (if they ever could).

United Airlines is another union own corporation. They used to be fly the friendly skies, now they are a mess. Ownership and management by employees is just like Socialism, sound good but in practice does not work, sort of like the employee / owners.
