I do have such reciepe books too from Germany, motly from WW1 and some from WW2, for civilians and if i'm correct there is an WW1 soldier cooking booklet around as well.
Unfortunately hard to read about the old fonts and old german writing, but very interesting.

They don't teach Fraktur in schools anymore? I had to learn to read Fraktur when taking German in the US.

Lol, i know i'm almost an bit older since i was in school. But Fraktur was definitively not an topic in Switzerlands schools in my time.

Excellent!! I not only made myself into a German translator within 9 months of getting there in June of '78, I also taught myself to read the old Gothic/Fraktur letters and can do well with these recipes...Gary

Seems like I heard somewhere that Gummy Bears came out of war time Germany .
