I have a sit on the table/counter top xmas tree's,in which it's sitting out at this time.and it came decorated. Gotta check the lights thoe.on account they aint working.

Put pinecones, holly, etc. It would be beautiful
That's a good idea Robin. I'm sure that she'll do that. She also wants to make some decorative balls made from bird seed and suet to hang in the trees too. The only problem is that the only birds we have around here in winter are magpies and raven's.

Would the seed / suet go bad before the birds a squirrels returned? As cold as you describe your winters, seems like an outdoor freezer to me.

Years past when the kids were still at home I used to trim the fur & pine trees to make garland and wreaths. Found some red berries, holly and pinecones to add in too. Throw in some plaid ribbon and made bows. . . Brings back memories. I really need to start doing this again now that we have grandkids around. . . . You are right about decorating the trees outside. It would make a perfect winter wonderland for the holidays.

@Artic. . . I love your wife's idea of the home made ornaments with bird seed. That sounds like a great idea to do with the granddaughters. being down south, we always have birds around. that would have to happen in early December of my work schedule is going to be anything like this years. I'm sure the magpies and ravens will appreciate the kind gesture.

Christmas is what a person makes of it. It doesn't have to be commercialised unless you choose for it to be. Many people that I know make gifts to hand out rather than buying cheap plastic made in China crap. I love Christmas and can't wait for the day when we'll have family and friends here to celebrate it with.

I haven't bothered with a Christmas tree for about 28 years, Christmas is too commercialised and trivial to bother with, was okay when I was a kid(a lifetime ago) but its got a bit tawdry now.

My wife is the Christmas Lady. She breaks out all the decorations, starts baking and sets up our 3 foot fake tree. If it make her happy, who am I to complain or toss cold water. Besides I get to eat the home baked cookies. WIN-WIN.

I love Christmas but I'm not a big decorator. I have a little tree and few lights and that's it. For me it's mainly an excuse to give presents which I love to do. My younger siblings are spoiled.
