Militants Shelled Positions of Ukrainian Military with Mounted Grenade Launcher, – ATO Staff

From 18.00 of yesterday until midnight, militants of the illegal armed formation violated the ceasefire more than twenty times.
The press center of ATO Staff reported it this morning.
Reportedly, militants shelled the positions of the Ukrainian military using mounted grenade launcher in Luhansk region.
In Horlivko-Svitlodarsk arch, the terrorists opened fire with small arms, grenade launchers and heavy machine guns near Luhanske, Maiorsk, Zaitseve, Lozove and Novhorodske.
In Mariupol direction, militants were trying to provoke the ATO units to open fire in response by using small arms near Krasnohorivka and Avdiivka.
Pisky was several times shelled with heavy machine guns and grenade launchers.
ATO Staff also added that since the beginning of this day, two incidents of ceasefire violations by illegal armed formations were recorded.
“Militants’ unaimed fire towards the Ukrainian positions in Pisky lasted 10 minutes. Near Luhanske, enemy’s sniper was trying to shot Ukrainian soldiers once”, – added the press center.
It should be recalled that the Ukrainian side of the JCCC is concerned about the escalation in the delimitation line.

Militants Opened Fire More than 50 times, – Intelligence

Yesterday, the terrorists of illegal armed formations violated the ceasefire more than 50 times, with most attacks conducted in Donetsk and Sloviansk directions.
The Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry reported this.
Yesterday, December 22, the militants carried out 53 attacks with small arms, grenade launchers, 82-mm mortars, one of which took place near Shchastia(Novoaidarsk direction), one – in Krymske area (Severodonetsk direction), 22 – in Luhanske, Zaitseve, Maiorsk, Novhorodske ( Sloviansk direction), 27 – in Avdiivka, Opytne, Pisky, Krasnohorivka, Marinka (Donetsk direction), two – near Talakivka and Shyrokyne (Mariupol direction).
According to the Intelligence, in the area of Talakivka that is in Mariupol direction, there was combat clash between ATO forces and militants.
Representatives of the OSCE Special monitoring mission were provided with information on the presence of prohibited weapons – tanks and assault guns in the areas of Pervomaisk, Donetsk and Komsomolske.

Kyiv, December 22, 2015. Situation in eastern Ukraine escalated sharply yesterday. Militants used heavy weapons 12 times against the ATO forces. Two combat engagements between militant groups and Ukrainian troops took place on the contact line. About half of attacks on Ukrainian positions over the last day were targeted, said spokesman of the President Administration on ATO-related issues Oleksandr Motuzyanyk at a press briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center.

He said there was an engagement near Shchatia in the Luhansk sector yesterday late in the evening. “Adversary attacked the Ukrainian stronghold. Occupants stepped back following the 20-minute exchange of fire,” noted Colonel Motuzyanyk. It was calm at the Svitlodarsk salient in the Donetsk sector yesterday. Instead the situation on the outskirts of Horlivka has escalated significantly. Militants used 82-mm and 120-mm mortars and a tank in Zaitseve. “Similar situation was holding east of Novhorodske where three mortar attacks took place at the same time. Two mines were fired in course of each attack, ZU-23-2 antiaircraft mounts were also used,” added ATO spokesman. Pisky remains the combat epicenter in the area of the Donetsk airport where ceasefire was violated all day long. Militants conducted a mortar attack in Krasnohorivka.

According to Colonel Motuzyanyk combat actions have also intensified in the Mariupol sector. “Hostile attacks lasted for four hours in Maryinka yesterday in the evening. Ukrainian positions were fired upon twice from 82-mm mortars. There was also a combat engagement between the ATO forces and the adversary that lasted for over an hour and a half,” said ATO spokesman adding that militants are traditionally firing from residential areas of the Donetsk’s Petrovsky district. He said two mortar attacks were also registered in Starohnativka yesterday, a series of attacks from grenade launchers – in Shyrokyne.

Ukrainian troops incurred no casualties over the last day, two servicemen were wounded in action.

Ukrainian borders guards registered reconnaissance flights of two Russian aircraft at the administrative border with the temporary occupied Crimea.

ATO spokesman also said that Ukrainian Armed Forces reinforced their units and combat capacities over 2015. He said 508 combat training events were held, it is two times bigger than over the previous year. They include 65 battalion training events, 201 company, 66 tactical and 21 flight and tactical training sessions. Special attention was paid to improving coordination between the brigades, 15 training sessions were conducted over the past year, while only one such event was held in previous four years. He added that more detailed information and infographics are available on social network accounts of the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and on the web site of the Defense Ministry.

Two Servicemen Wounded in ATO Area Over Day, – Lysenko

During the last day none of the Ukrainian soldiers was killed in the ATO area as a result of hostilities, however, two servicemen suffered injuries.
This was reported by the the spokesman of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine for ATO issues Colonel Andrii Lysenko during the briefing today, December 23.
According to the spokesman, in Luhansk direction, two episodes of ceasefire violation were recorded in Krymske and Shchastia. In both cases, the terrorists used small arms.
“In Shchastia, the ATO forces opened fire in response, forcing the militants to stop firing”, – said Lysenko.
In Svitlodarsk arc, near the village of Luhanske, near Horlivka and Donetsk airport, the combat actions of low intensity continued.
According to Lysenko, the largest number of attacks was recorded in Luhansk, Zaitseve, Novhorodske and Pisky.
In Mariupol direction, a series of militants’ attacks was recorded in Krasnohorivka and Marinka. The terrorists opened aimed fire from small arms there.
“The combat clash between militants and ATO forces took place in Talakivka. In addition, the enemy released one mine from the 82-mm mortar. Short-term skirmish took place in Shyrokyne”, – Lysenko added.

Terrorists Opened Fire over 50 Times in past 24 hrs, – ATO Headquarters

51 cases of ceasefire violation were recorded in the zone of antiterrorist operation over the last 24 hours.

According to the report, “From 6 p.m. yesterday until midnight, militants three times opened fire with small arms near Zaitseve. Besides, automatic grenade launchers and heavy machine guns were used to attack Ukrainian positions near Lozove”.
Terrorists conducted un-aimed fire using small arms and grenade launchers on Ukrainian positions near Opytne (situated close to the Donetsk airport).
“Since midnight, 5 cases of ceasefire violation were recorded”, – the press center reported.
Automatic grenade launchers were used to shell ATO forces near Zaitseve, heavy machine guns – near Troitske, and small arms – near Novhorodske and Maiorsk.
Ukrainian positions were two times forced to open fire in response.

Militants Withdrew Heavy Weapons from Kominternove and Hid in Houses of Local Residents, – Staff

The militants who occupied the village of Kominternove that is in Volnovakha distruct of Donetsk region withdrew heavy equipment and weapons from there and are currently preparing a provocation involving local residents.
This was reported by the press center of the ATO Staff.
As Staff stressed, the militants are preparing another provocation, involving the local residents.
“According to the latest information, before the arrival of OSCE SMM representatives to Kominternove, militants hastily withdrew all the machinery and heavy weapons from the village deeply towards their rear. By threatening, they forced local residents to hide them in their houses. The terrorists also hid in the abandoned buildings. The exact number of the illegal armed formations’ members hiding in the village remains unknown”, – the ATO Staff statement said.
The representatives of the ATO Staff noted that militants had prepared another informational provocation during their stay in Kominternove.
“Representatives of the Russian-terrorist troops forced the inhabitants of the village by threatening vand intimidating to make applications to the OSCE representatives that Ukrainian soldiers allegedly commited illegal actions towards the people at the time when the village was not monitored by any of the parties “, – noted the Staff. It was added that this information is false, because the town is located in the so-called “gray area” and staying of any armed formations there is unacceptable under the previous agreements.
The ATO press center stressed that thus the terrorists are trying to discredit the Ukrainian authorities and ATO forces and justify their unauthorized invasion.

Military Clashes near Maiorsk and Marinka

35 cases of ceasefire violation and 2 military clashes observed in the ATO area over the last 24 hours.

According to the report, a group of terrorists totaling about 30 persons under the cover of 82-mm mortars attacked Ukrainian positions near Maiorsk. After the two-hour clash, terrorists suffered losses and retreated.
The similar attack was carried out near Marinka.
Near Donetsk and Horlivka militants carried our several aimed and un-aimed shellings using small arms, grenades of different systems and heavy machine guns.
Besides, militants opened aimed fire with infantry fighting vehicles and anti-aircraft installations on Ukrainian positions in Novhorodske.

Cache of Russian-Made Weapons Found in ATO Area, – ATO Staff

A cache of Russian-made weapons and ammunition was found near the village Velyki Novosilky, Donetsk region.
This was reported in the press center of the ATO Staff.
The cache was found by the officers of the Main directorate of intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine in cooperation with officers of the special operations division of ATO Staff.
In the cache, almost 15 anti-tank shoulder launchers and over 12 thousand cartridges of different caliber were revealed.
According to the ATO press center, the major part of the weapons found was produced in Russia after 1991.

In 2015 Ukrainian army became one of the most combat-ready armies with its personnel totaling 250 thousand people.
ATO forces managed to liberate two-thirds of Donetsk and Lugansk regions and stop the Russian aggression near the Eastern borders.
Ukraine’s defense capacity was strengthened, the military supply system was reformed, and the military hardware was upgraded. Implementation of a new military doctrine remains a crucially important issue. It does not only officially recognizes Russia as an aggressor states, but necessitates redeployment of military units, as well as establishment of a relevant military infrastructure in the eastern and southern parts of Ukraine.
Since July 4, 2014, the state concern ‘Ukroboronprom’ raised the manufacturing of weapons and military hardware by 36 times and began systematically provide Ukrainian Armed Forces with latest samples of armament. ‘Ukroboronprom’ enterprises adapt to NATO standards as far as the production of weapons is concerned. The latest e-purchasing system allowed ‘Ukroboronprom’ save 1 million UAH. Since its introduction, as of the beginning of December, 232 contracts worth 1,312 billion UAH were signed.
For the first time in the history of Ukraine, the Secretary General of NATO took part in one of the sessions of National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.
The focus on Euro-Atlantic integration has been designated in both the National Security Strategy and Military Doctrine. The task number one for Ukraine is to establish cooperation between Ukrainian armed Forces and Alliance forces.

No Casualties in ATO over past 24 hrs, – Lysenko

This was reported today, December 25, by the Presidential Administration spokesman for the ATO, Colonel Andriy Lysenko.
According to him, no cases of ceasefire violations were recorded in Luhansk direction.
Military actions in Donetsk direction are of low intensity.
Over the last 24 hours the enemy several times opened fire with small arms. Also, two sniper shots were recorded. The largest quantity of attacks, namely 14, was recorded eastwards from Novhorodske village.
A military clash took place near Maiorsk, northwards from Horlivka. Militants attacked Ukrainian positions under the cover of 82-mm mortars.
The frequency of attacks decreased near the Donetsk airport, though militants continue using small arms and grenade launchers.
One more military clash took place near Marinka, Mariupol direction. Besides, several grenades were launched in Shyrokyne.


Militants in Occupied Donetsk Force Civilians Approach Demarcation Line

Today, December 25, leaders of the so-called ‘DPR’ organized an anti-Ukrainian meeting in the village of Olenivka, Donetsk region.

According to the report, meeting participants, among them women and children, were brought by five buses from Donetsk. After the meeting, the participants went to the boundary line carrying placards with a pretension written on them: “Ukraine is violating the Minsk Agreements”.

Today, December 25, militants of the illegal armed formations shelled the village of Vodiane that is located in the so-called "gray area" near Mariupol.
The press center of ATO Staff reported it.
“The militants shelled Vodiane using 82-mm mortars from the territory of Shyrokyne controlled by them. Overall, five mines dropped and explosed in the territory and on the outskirts of Shyrokyne. The information on the casualties among the local residents, majority of whom supports the integrity of Ukraine, is being clarified”, – the department reported.
According to the ATO Staff, the militants are trying to blame it on the Ukrainian military.
“These actions are a continuation of the Kremlin mercenaries’ audacious provocations that the invaders recently initiated in the Mariupol direction, entering Kominternove”, – the Staff added.
ATO Staff assured that the ATO headship’s position remained changeless. According to the Minsk agreements, Ukrainian units involved in the operation must respect the “complete ceasefire” and fulfill these demands strictly.
Illegal armed formations, in turn, continue to violate agreements on the peaceful settlement of the conflict during the last three days, provoking the ATO forces on the daily basis.
It should be recalled that the leaders of the so-called “DPR” organized anti-Ukrainian meeting in the settlement Olenivka that is in the territory of temporarily occupied Donbas.

Militants Continue to Shell Vodiane, – ATO Staff

The militants of illegal armed formations controlled by Russia shelled Vodiane village again in the afternoon today, using mortars, particularly those prohibited by the Minsk agreements.
The ATO Staff press center reported this through the Facebook.
“About 14.30, the militants of illegal armed formations controlled by Russia attacked Vodiane village again, using mortars, particularly those prohibited by the Minsk agreements”, – reported the Staff.
Reportedly, 120-mm mortars’ attacks are conducted from the village Zaichenko. 82-mm mortars’ attacks – from the area of Kominternove.
“This once again demonstrated the real face of the so-called” Russian World” which the Russian side is trying to implement in the temporarily occupied territories of Donbas. To shell civilian homes, trying to turn the peaceful village into the burnt piece of land where nothing is alive, is only possible for creatures that have nothing common with normal people. By the way, they have done the same to Opytne, Pisky and many other settlements close to delimitation line, which even in case of complete ceasefire are almost impossible to live in”, – stressed the Staff.
According to the press center of ATO Staff, this information is confirmed by the inhabitants of Vodiane, who are now forced to hide in the basements. People do not rule out that thus the invaders are trying to take revenge on their forced exit from Kominternove.
It should be recalled that at about 12:00 of today, December 25, militants of illegal armed groups shelled the village Vodiane that is located in the so-called “gray area” near Mariupol.

Ukrainian Military Have Not Lost any Territory to Militants, – Poltorak

The Armed Forces of Ukraine have not lost any territory in Donbas to the militants.
As Ukrainska Pravda reported, Defense Minister of Ukraine Stepan Poltorak stated this at a press conference.
“According to Minsk agreements, Kominternove belongs to the occupied territory. The delimitation line passes through the western borders of this settlement”, – he said.
“Yesterday, they (militants) tried to provoke the Armed Forces (of Ukraine) to violate the ceasefire. They prepared very well and entered this place”, – said the Minister.
“Then, when we raised the issue in the OSCE and the mission’s representatives went there, the militants hastily withdrew almost all the machinery, put the civilian clothes on and remained there”, – he added.
According to Poltorak, the militants hoped that the Armed Forces would be provoked to move forward. Then they would have seriously attacked Ukrainian units and accused them of Minsk agreements’ violations.
“We withstood the situation, we did not lose any territory. We control the situation, and there is enough power to react to such actions of the enemy”, – Poltorak assured.
According to him, all the sources of information available to the Ministry confirm that this was a scenario built by the terrorist groups.
Defense Minister outraged that the media and some politicians started demanding the Armed Forces to act in the wrong way, demanding the assault of Ukrainian military.

Militants 20 Times Shelled ATO Positions Over Past Night

Over the last night, the enemy 20 times tried to provoke Ukrainian soldier open fire in response.
This was reported today, January 3, by the press center of ATO Staff.
Yesterday evening, pro-Russian militants conducted fire with heavy machine guns on Ukrainian positions along the border line of Donetsk and Luhansk regions. Besides, small arms were used to attack positions of Ukrainian soldiers near Luhanske village.

Enemy Fire Was Especially Intensive Near Horlivka.

US Allocated $23 Million In Military Communications To Ukraine

The U.S. delivered $23 million in vital military communications and medical equipment to Ukraine.
This was stated on the web site of the Embassy of the United States to Ukraine.
As it was written, “The shipment included $21 million in secure radio equipment to help Ukrainian soldiers communicate effectively without putting themselves in harm’s way, as well as nearly $2 million in battlefield life-saving medical equipment”.
It was also stated that the U.S.-donated equipment will be delivered to Ukrainian Army units participating in U.S.-led training taking place at Yavoriv and Khmelnitsky after clearing customs.
Besides, U.S. trainers from the Joint Multinational Training Group (JMTG-U) will train Ukrainian soldiers on the equipment for use on the frontlines.
This $23 million in assistance is part of the United States’ $75 million dollar European Reassurance Initiative (ERI).

Since the Ukraine conflict began, the United States has committed more than $260 million in security assistance to Ukraine, including the provision of body armor, vehicles, night and thermal vision devices, medical equipment, heavy engineering equipment, radios, patrol boats, rations, tents, and counter-mortar radars.

Investigation: Russian Military Base Is Being Built Near Border With Kharkiv Region

At the moment, Russia is building a range of barracks within a military base near Kharkiv region. 23th separate motor rifle brigade was redeployed to Valuyky village.

In September 2015, the news media reported that a new military camp is being built on 300 acres in Valuysky district of Belgorod region, 25 km from the border of Ukraine. After the construction tender was conducted, the building contract worth 3.3 billion rubles was signed with the St. Petersburg company Megaline.
Within the first stage of the building, administrative buildings and the barrack zone was expected to be finished until December 7, 2015. According to the contract, the whole project is supposed to be finished until 29 April, 2016.
As the activists of InformNapalm reported, there are photos proving that the building was indeed started near the local railway line.
Still, the tempo of the building is rather slow because of, as the investigators assume, lack of financing or shift in Russia’s priorities.

This was reported today, January 18, by Col. Andriy Lysenko, Presidential Administration spokesperson on ATO related issues.
No military hostilities in Luhansk sector were recorded.
The enemy became more active along the whole length of the Donetsk front line.
Ukrainian positions near Luhanske village were two times shelled with IFV, while near Zaitseve village – with mortars.
The situation was especially tense in Novhorodske, where terrorists opened fire with IFV and 82-mm mortars. Besides, terrorist provocations with the use of small arms and grenade launchers continue throughout the day and night.
The situation remains the same near the Donetsk airport. Near Starohnativka, Mariupol sector, positions of Ukrainian troops were shelled with IFV.
“The enemy launched almost twenty 82-mm mines. Besides, militants conducted fire with grenade launchers and heavy machine guns”, said the Spokesperson.


Epidemic In Occupied Donbas: Militants Die From Pneumonia

In the temporarily occupied territories of Donbas, there is a deterioration of sanitary-epidemiological situation, cases of massive pneumonia are recorded.

Terrorists used a 100-mm anti-tank gun ‘Rapira’ and a mortar near Krasnohorivka.
Enemy snipers were noticed in Pisky and Opytne. Besides, terrorists opened fire with small arms and grenade launchers near Horlivka and the Donetsk airport.
The enemy remains active in Mariupol direction. Ukrainian positions near Starohnativka were shelled with IFV and antiaircraft mount ZU-23-2. Two mortar shellings, as well as a series of provocations, were recorded near Lebedyne.
ATO troops were forced to open fire in response, after which the enemy retreated.
Terrorists used 82-mm mortars to shell positions of Ukrainian Armed Forces near Shyrokyne. Besides, a series of small-scale provocations were recorded in the area, as well as in Krasnohorivka and Marinka.

Militants Shelled ATO Positions With Grenade Launchers Nearby Opytne, – Staff

The militants opened fire 17 times over the last 24 hours in ATO area.
This was reported by the press center of the ATO Staff.
“Yesterday, the militants shelled out strongpoints again trying to provoke Ukrainian servicemen to open fire in response”, – said the statement of the Staff.
Reportedly, situation remains tense near the Donetsk airport.
“The enemy opened fire against the Ukrainian positions nearby Pisky”, – the Staff added.
A strongpoint of the ATO forces near Opytne was shelled with grenade launcher, another one near Butovka mine – with mortar.
The Staff also reported that the Ukrainian servicemen in Mariupol direction, who who hold their positions near the village of Vodiane, were attacked with mortars and grenade launchers.
