Talking with people I am always trying to gleam good information from all sources. I had an interesting conversation with an old American Indian friend about prepping and growing food. This gentleman talked about growing small food plots in different locations. His thoughts were concerning scattered rainfall, raiding animals and people stealing your food. Just like crop rotation, he said you don't bet your survival on only one type of food, you plant all types and hope most make it. Corn, onions, garlic, beans, squash, potatoes, these crops are not labor intense like wheat or rice is, they can be harvested by hand and stored in primitive containment systems.

In the UK we call have Guerilla Gardening, Planting mixed food crops in irregular patterns so they look just like wild foliage and not like organised crops. they often plant them in commonland areas , along roads, in out the way corners of public parks, along kerbsides etc

most folks walk straight on by not realising people are growing food crops because its so irregular in shape, spacing, location etc.
