Our kids high school, which has mandatory masking at ALL times to supposedly prevent the spread, just closed for ten days due to ONE Covid case. One. Nobody else is sick. No other positive cases.
People are getting dumber as this drags on. Don’t move to Colorado. It’s a suckhole of progressive thought.
We pulled our kids out. Back to homeschooling.

My granddaughter in Germany is going to High School (sorta) and they have to wear masks at all times...
(except in SPORTS) where you breathe and cough and spit more than ever!!!! They have to sit 6 feet apart, and wear their heavy winter jackets IN THE CLASSROOM!!! because some Self-proclaimed EXPERT decided that you can defeat the problem of spreading the germs by OPENING THE WINDOWS in the HEATED classrooms every 15 minutes and letting the GERMS ALL GO OUT TO PLAY. It seems the playground should be the most inpregnated area of all from the CO19 GERMS, by the way, where the OTHER kids are all doing their sports WITHOUT MASKS....So much for the intelligence of the German Politics...Gary

masks are only mandatory inside public building, in the open air they are not required as we can socially distance, large groups are banned.
we are getting to the end of this stuff now, schools will be open next month and other places in April, holidays may be allowed in May, maybe June some say life will back to "normal" by July.

I just hope that with the speed of all the mutations this bug is having it dosent become something worse or immune to the vaccines. Hell, I’m so ready for a vacation somewhere nice right about now!

Kids were off school yesterday, but because of the weather, not covid. Back to school today, as it's a warmer 8 degrees out this morning. They have to stay six feet apart and wear a mask all day, too. That's about the only place here that they ever wear a mask. Other than school, things are normal in our town.

Pretty disgusting....not even gonna offer instruction, just "supervision."

==San Francisco Schools Plan to Reopen Just 1 Day to Qualify for $12 Million State Aid
By GQ Pan==
May 13, 2021

The San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) is reportedly planning to send high school seniors back to school for just one day, so that the city might qualify for $12 million in state reopening funds.

The state of California is offering a total of $2 billion to encourage public school districts to reopen for in-person instruction. To get their full share of the incentive funding, districts must reopen all elementary schools and at least a single grade spanning middle and high schools.

Districts could access the maximum amount of funding—$17 million for SFUSD—if they opened by April 1. For each day the district fails to meet the minimum requirements, it loses 1 percent of the funds it would have received, and will not get any money after May 15.

Under a deal between the district and its teacher’s union, the United Educators-San Francisco (UESF), high school seniors would be brought back “for at least one day before the end of the school year,” starting on May 14, just one day shy of the May 15 deadline.

According to the terms of the agreement, obtained by the San Francisco Chronicle, those high school seniors would be receiving “in-person supervision” rather than in-person instruction.

Thats the way teachers and their unions operate. They don't give a damn about the children's education, just money.

My son goes to a school for disabled adults 2 days a week . They are very strict on the mask rules. I'm anxious to see how the handle the CDC announcement. If they say only the vaccinated can take off mask, I will say he has the best vaccine. He has already had covid 19 and has the antibodies naturally. ThE thing is, this school is private so I can't scream because they will toss my son. He loves it there.

CDC deputy director resigns after emails reveal teachers’ union lobbied to keep schools closed

The teachers’ union pressured the CDC to amend its public health guidance on how and when schools should reopen, basing the policy on politics rather than on COVID science.

ATLANTA, May 19, 2021 (LifeSiteNews) — Communications unearthed in early May between the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) show that the second biggest teachers’ union in the country lobbied the CDC to have school reopening delayed. Weeks later, CDC top brass resign.

Emails obtained by the New York Post confirm correspondence between the two organizations, with the AFT pressuring the CDC to amend its public health guidance on how and when schools should reopen, basing the policy on politics rather than on science and statistics.

Corey A. DeAngelis, senior fellow at the libertarian think tank Reason Foundation, told Fox Business that the discovery “really confirms what we knew all along, that the whole school reopening debate has been more to do with political partisanship and power dynamics than safety and the needs of families.” DeAngelis pointed to the findings of his March study, “Are School Reopening Decisions Related to Union Influence?”

DeAngelis found that “there was no statistically significant relationship between the reopening decisions and the risk of the virus in the area.” Ultimately, his study concluded that “school closures are uncorrelated with the actual incidence of the virus, but are rather strongly associated with unionization.” This implies that “the decision to close schools has been a political — not scientific — decision,” he said.

According to the Post, the CDC were on the cusp of introducing instructions for schools to reopen for regular tuition. Emails from AFT senior advisor for health issues Kelly Trautner, obtained through a freedom of information request by conservative watchdog Americans for Public Trust, show the powerful teachers’ union thanking CDC Director Rochelle Walensky for her “genuine desire to earn our [AFT] confidence and your commitment to partnership” on February 3.

Trautner confirmed that the AFT was able “to review a copy of the draft guidance document over the weekend [before February 1] and … to provide some initial feedback to several staff this morning about possible ways to strengthen the document.”

“We believe our experiences on the ground can inform and enrich thinking around what is practicable and prudent in future guidance documents,” she wrote, adding further thanks “for Friday’s rich discussion about forthcoming CDC guidance and for your openness to the suggestions made by our president, Randi Weingarten, and the AFT.” Walensky, though not copied into the February 1 email, was forwarded the correspondence by White House coronavirus testing coordinator Carol Johnson.

Mask did nothing on containing Covid. It did however erase the learning process, especially with the very young kids. . . an entire generation for nothing.

The imposition of mask mandates among school children during the pandemic did not affect the incidence of COVID-19 infection, according to research conducted in Finland.

The study, published in the journal BMC Public Health on April 21, was conducted in three Finnish cities—Helsinki, Turku, and Tampere. These cities had similar baseline incidences of COVID-19 between August and September 2021. At the time, the federal government had recommended using masks in schools for children aged 12 years and above. In Helsinki and Tampere, the national recommendation was imposed as mandates at schools while in Turku, the mandate was levied on kids aged 10 and above.

The research team looked at the effects of masks on two groups of children—those between seven and nine years and those between 10 and 12. While the seven to 10-year-olds were not subject to mask mandates, 10-12 years olds had to wear masks.

“According to our analysis, no additional effect was gained from mandating masks, based on comparisons between the cities and between the age groups of the unvaccinated children (10–12 years versus 7–9 years),” the study said.

“Face mask recommendations in schools did not reduce COVID-19 incidence among 10–12-year-olds in Finland. This may indicate that COVID-19 cases in schools merely reflect community infections than school outbreaks.”

Ineffective Masks

The Finnish study cited Spanish research on mask mandates in schools which found that masking was not associated with lower COVID-19 incidence or transmission. The transmission risk in schools was found to be lower than in households.

It also cited a late 2022 study from the United States which found that lifting mask requirements was associated with an increase in COVID-19 cases among students and staff.

“However, this study aggregated data from all age groups, making it difficult to determine how the effects of mask recommendations might vary by age,” the Finnish study stated.

Multiple other studies have also suggested that masks may be ineffective when it comes to controlling COVID-19.

On April 13, the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) said that it could not find evidence as to whether N95 or similar medical-grade masks protect clinically vulnerable people from getting seriously ill from the disease.

A review by the UKHSA of thousands of primary studies about the effectiveness of face coverings could not find anything on whether wearing N75 or similar respirators could protect people or not. This is quite significant given that N95 respirators are considered to be very efficient in filtering airborne particles.

Mask Harms

In addition to being ineffective, wearing masks also turns out to be harmful. A systematic review of 2,168 studies that looked at the adverse effects of wearing masks during COVID-19 found that many people suffered from health consequences like headaches and itching as a result.

Headache was found to be the “most frequent symptom” among those who wore masks, with a prevalence of 62 percent for general mask use. Shortness of breath was observed in 33 percent of users.

While 17 percent of surgical mask wearers experienced itching, this number was at 51 percent among users of N95. Acne prevalence among mask users was at 38 percent and skin irritation was at 36 percent. Dizziness was found to be prevalent among 5 percent of subjects.

Masks also interfered with the process of oxygen uptake and carbon dioxide release, thereby compromising “respiratory compensation.” The restriction of oxygen uptake and hindrance in carbon dioxide release was identified as more significant among users of N95 masks.

An online survey conducted by researchers at the University of Illinois Chicago found that individuals who had asthma faced difficulties when wearing masks.

While 84 percent experienced discomfort, 75 percent reported experiencing trouble breathing or shortness of breath at least for a little time while they wore the mask.
