Typical politicians. Anytime they are spending other people’s money they skim some off the top for other things.
Brent, this is what I don't get about you. You understand fiscal responsibility. You abhor this. And yet you supported Obama & Hillary who would have 1000% done this.

But is more important to hate Trump because he tweets mean things than support him because he opposes this sort of theft?

I was no fan of Obama and Hillary. I didn't like their socialistic attitudes, and I most certainly didn't like their position on the 2nd Amendment. I'm very liberal by the standards of this forum, but I still believe that people must work . . . instead of having everything handed to them.

Very simply, if nobody worked . . .
then how would anything human even exist?

That having been said, I can't stand Trump. I believe in immigration reform, but I don't think his wall accomplishes anything. I think he needs to let the experts (physicians) do their job with this pandemic without him firing them, and I think he needs to think carefully about the West Point graduation ceremony where kids will be put at risk from COVID-19 . . .

And so on.

And his public statements about injecting disinfectant?

Totally out of line.

Come on Kevin. You know that Trump never suggested injecting disinfectants.
I have no problem with Trump getting advice from the so-called experts. But these physicians were never elected in to any decision making position. They're just unelected bureaucrats offering advice. They've already done enough damage to our economy with their suggestions and faulty models.
Btw, there isn't any "kids" graduating from West Point. They are called adults. If any of them are too scared to attend graduation ceremonies they can stay home and cower in place.

I don't suggest that these kids are scared . . . I'm just suggesting common sense.

Diseases like influenza, dysentary, typhus, cholera, malaria, bubonic plague, yellow fever, and so on have killed many more soldiers than bullets, bombs, mines, artillery, and poison gas combined.

Soldiers do not "social distance" due to the nature of their work.

All I'm suggesting is that the United States is surrounded by a lot of enemies (like North Korea, Iran, and so forth) at the moment, so maybe it isn't a good thing to expose elite West Point graduates (some of our best military leaders graduated from West Point) to an airborne, contagious disease . . . when their services are needed most.

Wars have been lost because of disease.

As for the doctors being unelected bureaucrats . . . well, I don't believe that all positions should be elected.

If there's a pandemic and people are dying, then the best person for the job should be appointed based on his or her education, experience, and skills.

This is not inconsistant with democracy, as we rely on an elected leader to appoint the specialists. A rapidly spreading disease doesn't wait for elections, campaigns, votes, and so forth.

Specialists (in any field) should be making the calls in an emergency.

I ran into similar issues in my field as a paramedic. I have run into problems because I exposed a Muslim woman's body during a cardiac arrest, as I had to use my defibrilator paddles.*

Did I get a lot of s----t afterwords because of the religious aspect?

Yes.

Did I save her life?

Yes.

I did my job, the Imam did his job, we had a conflict, but they eventually saw reason.

------------------
* A minor point is that paddles aren't used as much anymore, as we've gone to large, adhesive pads. This incident occurred over 20 years ago.

A Liberal I talk to sometimes was defending the State bailout by saying We can't let them go under . I reminded Her that they aren't going under or going anywhere they just stay on the Democrat plantation .

Why does the rest of the US have to pay for CA's radical leftist BS? They flaunt their "sanctuary state", and are giving $75 million to "undocumented" residents, while stifling the 2nd Am. They boast how they are "the world's fifth largest economy", and that "they pay more in taxes than they get back" (which is not true).

Taxpayers will pay restaurants to feed seniors in California

"Taxpayers will pay restaurants to make meals for millions of California's seniors during the coronavirus pandemic, an initiative that could pump billions of dollars into a devastated industry while generating sales tax collections for cash-strapped local governments, Gov. Gavin Newsom announced Friday.

A qualifying senior will get up to $66 per day for three meals at local restaurants that meet certain criteria. If 2 million people sign up and get all three meals a day, the price tag would be about $4 billion per month.

The federal government will pay for 75% of the cost"

"Death wish"? That's about the dumbest comment that I've heard yet. Why do you care what I, or millions of other Americans think or do? Like I've said before I don't live in an area that's been affected by the China flu. If you think that a mask will help protect you, then by all means you should wear one. I personally don't care whether a person wears a mask or not, or if they want to stay home and cower in a corner. Freedom of choice.
Remember too it was only a few weeks ago when the "experts" said that only "trained medical professionals" should wear a mask. These same "experts" claimed that the general population shouldn't wear a mask. They claimed that we were too stupid to wear it properly.
And there's new reports coming out every day that puts the likely death rate at between .05 and .1. They're finding that the more people who are tested, have actually had the China flu and didn't even know it. The more people that have recovered from the flu lowers the purported death rate. To me that's not worth wreaking our economy or wiping out people's life savings or livelihood over. But some people are fine with being locked down and treated like sheep.

I think anyone who thinks that there is a "one size fits all" for the entire country is. But like I said I don't care what others do. If it makes you feel safe to follow the "experts" suggestions then do what you think is best.

all you are worried about is your wallet
My wallet will be fine no matter what happens. But I am worried about the 26,000,000 Americans who have lost their jobs over this. And I'm worried about my kids and grandkids who will have to pay Trumps trillions back. I realize that some people are fine with taking government handouts but most people want to work for their money.

I lost a job over this crap,,I don't care about the job I have enough to carry on without it,,,as for following the experts,,,,,,are there really any??????????????????

I know this is a bad bug and I don't need it so I keep my distance do I stay home all the time,,,no I mowed 3 property's yesterday and went to the feed store,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I would think the majority who you say are cowering at home are doing about the same, minus the mowing,,

if not for the social distancing I would think we would be facing 10 times as many sick as we are
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
you should not be calling people cowards,,,,I would imagine there would be quite few that would take exception at that if you called them that to their face
