1. If you're ever caught in a whirlpool, do the best you can to take a deep breath (its tough, I know) and let the whirlpool suck you down underwater. Once underwater swim sideways to escape it. Since the whirlpool creates a conical shape its much easier to swim away once you're underwater rather than swimming at the top and getting pulled back.

2. When boiling down water in the winter remember that ice is 90% water 10% air, snow is 90% air 10% water. Melt ice, not snow.

3. Dont drink water fast when you finally encounter clean water. You’ll throw up, and give yourself stomach ache.

Take 1 sip every 10 seconds until you feel satisfied

4. If you are already experiencing hypothermia, your body has stopped making heat. At this point your insulating layers are only maintaining the slowly worsening status quo. The only way get better is to expose yourself to a heat source like a fire, a warm body, or heated structure.

That means you have to take off the insulated layers in order for the heat to get to your body. I knew someone who almost died because she was experiencing hypothermia. She went into a warm building and people kept piling more and more blankets on her. The blankets kept out the heat and her body wasn't producing it's own so she wasn't getting any better. Finally someone called them all dumb asses and pulled off the blankets so the warm air could actually reach her.

5. The entire dandelion plant is edible.

The entire clover plant is also edible.

need to be cooked.

One cup of chopped, raw dandelion greens has 25 calories, 1.5g protein, 0.4g of fat, 5.1g of carbohydrates, 1.9g fiber, and 0.4g sugar. Dandelion greens are an excellent source of vitamin A, folate, vitamin K, and vitamin C (in its raw form), and a good source of calcium and potassium.

A 100-gram serving of raw clover contains only 23 calories. Clover is a good source of vitamin C and antioxidants. It even is anti inflammatory towards the cardiovascular system.

6. For sleeping - 1 layer below you is the same as 2 layers above you

The ground sucks all the heat out of you so the more separation you can get, the better.

As you stated "Don't eat snow if you if you are thirsty". It will cool your core. Put the snow in a container, even a plastic bag, and put it under your coat. I will warm and thaw without cooling your core. As for point 3.
(may have posted before) "If something gets stuck in you don't pull it out". Father and I were in a weapons museum. We were looking at a truly wicked bayonet. It had large shark fin like barbs that leaned in opposite
directions. 1 right,1 left for the entire length. I indicated that I thought such a device would be difficult to remove. Dad replied. "He'll help you, all he can".
And never eat YELLOW snow.

1. If you think you're being followed turn right four times. Since you'll get to the same place they shouldn't be following you anymore. If they do, you might be in trouble. Since it's a common warning that you shouldn't go home when you think someone is following you, the smartest is to go to a police station."

2. Buy a plunger and fire extinguisher before you need a plunger or fire extinguisher.
Because fire and shitty situations are no fun at all.

3. If you’re being tied up, puff yourself out as much as possible so it’ll be easier to wiggle out of. Tense muscles, inhale deep and stretch out your arms and legs to make more space.

4. If someone is choking but they are coughing/talking, DO NOT INTERVENE. Let them cough it out. The ability to cough is a sign that air is able to get in and out and that they only have a partial obstruction in their airway. If you try to intervene with the Heimlich or backblows, you could force it out, or you could dislodge the blockage and cause a full obstruction. Obviously, if they're not breathing or coughing then you should definitely administer backblows, just remember to check in between each one incase you partially dislodge the object.

Rocket fuel can be made from sugar and potassium nitrate. It’s amazing how much energy is in sugar. Every once In a while a factory processing sugar will blow up leveling the place.....

1. If you are trying to escape a burning building and are about to open a closed door, be wary that there may be fire built up and trapped on the other side waiting for an opening to burst to the next room.

If the door opens inwards (towards you), stand aside while opening the door, using the door as a shield, so the built up fire doesn’t blast you.

2. Do NOT put hydrogen peroxide on a DEEP fleshwound. It will turn your blood into a human slushy.

Small cuts are fine, but a deep fleshwound is not.A mild saline solution or antibiotic is far superior. Strong solutions like alcohol, iodide, and hydrogen peroxide are damaging to our tissues and will make the injury worse. A saline solution mimics the body’s pH, and bacitracin or other antibiotics are essential to fighting infection, speeding up the healing process, and and minimizing scarring.

The funny thing is, stronger solutions aren’t even especially helpful for smaller injuries; if you’re actually worried about infection you’re better off with neosporin. Hydrogen peroxide is only actually useful for disinfecting.

3. If a fallen powerline is still active and you are closeby, never lift your feet but drag them along the ground. Separating your feet can create two contact points with the ground and can result in a shock

4. If you happen to someday find yourself on a sinking boat, and it goes underwater and you're somehow able to get free, beware. Once the air neutralizes, if you're far down enough, water pressure will kill you, and collapse your lungs.

To avoid this, scream all the way to the top. While you swim up, scream. It'll keep the pressure from killing you.

5. If you have a cut that gets infected and see a streak of red going up from it, go to the doctor immediately. It is a sign of serious infection that can lead to sepsis.

Bonus : Not really a fact, but someone once told me this: “If you wouldn’t dare to put your d*ck in there, don’t put your finger in there neither”. This is useful, especially with big machines and other things with ‘holes’. You can prevent some serious injuries like this.

1.
If you are lost in the wilds, fishing is one of the easiest ways to gather food. To make a fishing hook, you can use the little tag on the top of your beer or soda can. It is the perfect shape for making a hook. You will have to cut one segment out of it and sharpen it.

2.
Do not forget to put stones around your campfire. The stones will control the fire, and, after the fire dies out, they can be used to keep you warm. Warm stones can also be used to purify water. If you place the rocks inside cans with water, the water will boil.

3.
"If someone grabs your wrists, pull away quickly where their thumbs are - thumbs are the weakest parts in a grip."

4.
"If you work around stuff that can cut someone easy (metal scrap, sheet metal or really any factory or construction work) wear a belt. I don't care if you don't need one to hold your pants up. A belt can be a quick easy tourniquet and save a life."

5. If you ever find yourself on a horse that is out of control - pull one rein so that it's head is all the way around, touching your foot/it's shoulder. A horse can not buck, bolt or rear in this stance - it can run madly in a tight circle but it will tire and stop eventually.

6.
If you get a tooth knocked out, don’t put it on ice to take to the hospital- put it in milk. The tooth must stay moist at all times, either in your mouth or, if it can't be replaced in the socket, put it in milk, in your mouth next to your cheek, or in an emergency tooth preservation kit. Don't use regular tap water; root surface cells can't tolerate that for extended periods of time.
Also if you get a body part severed, put it in a bag and then put the bag on ice; don’t put the body part directly in the ice.
