Looks good Brent, now let's see some dirty Jeep pictures :)
Lol. I’ve always joked about Jeep people that finance a 70k new Jeep and would never take it off road for fear of a scratch. That being said, I’m also smart enough to not take it through mud bogs just to see if it can make it. I am the one that has to pat the bills to fix things on it! I live in an area filled with overgrown trails, streams and endless dirt roads to explore that are great for adventure, but some of the extreme you tube stunts are for 20yr olds....

I just don't get this fascination that some people have with "off roading". I live off road and drive off road every day of the year. During late fall, winter and spring all of my vehicles have the 4 wheel drive locked in just to get in and out of our place. Even during summer I use 4 wheel drive a lot here on the property and to access area lakes and scouting new trapping territory.
The thought of purposely tearing up a vehicle to just go "off road" and get muddy seems silly to me.

  1. After scrimping and struggling for 14 years and 9 months, we paid off the farm Saturday, 3 months early. Going to take the $ we’d normally spend on the mortgage payment and put in a deeper well and fix the tractors and outbuildings starting in August.
  2. Going to replace my pos cell phone that works how and when it feels like it. Maybe I’ll upgrade to an iPhone 5.

Teen age boys seem to love to trash their vehicles. I’m sure auto supply places love it.

The floor guys started laying the hardwood flooring this morning. It's looking good. We have most of the doors hung, window and door trim and closet shelves installed. There's still a few custom doors on order that should arrive next week.
My son came down on the 4th to help with the hay, but the hay isn't ready yet. Looks like I'll be putting it all up myself.
Instead he helped me around the place. I've been pretty sick lately so it was great having his help and his company. We started putting the redwood down on the rear deck last night. We quit work at dark and my son almost stepped on a rattlesnake that was about 20 feet from where we were working. We could here the SOB buzzing but it was hard finding the snake in the dark and the tall grass. I crawled around until I eventually came face to face with him. One shot with my .22 magnum loaded with snake shot and no more threat.
My brother stepped on a 5 foot rattlesnake the other day. He was lucky. He got it before it got him, he said.

I have no updates on my preps, I'll just fill you in on the Wife and I'll keep it short

Wife has been in California, she was requested by her old boss from the USGS after the 7.1EQ. She called last night and said there are a lot of concerns with the Seismologist including the earthquake specialist from NASA, there were no greet and smile when she arrived, she described it as walking into a scientific void, the USGS also sent a team of Volcanologist from Hawaii to California, she will call tonight and fill me in on why they were called in. Today she is spending time out in the field with two geophysicist from MIT. She described the whole theater down their as ominous.
Throughout the conversation with her and sometimes cryptic, I taken that she has a big concern and feels uneasy about being their.

When I heard about the quakes, I thought about her job and wondered what she thought about it.

I hope nothing else happens, but more so since she is there.

Thank you for sharing, I know it's hard to not be there to help make sure she is safe.

Hope she stays safe. The news is very scary... so many ways that can be interpreted, especially about the volcanologist...

If the big one is coming, what exactly are they going to do, evacuate everyone in California that live south of Sacramento?

Talk about a cluster!

Doc, they now concerned regarding California volcanoes, she says they even has a make shift office setup For the USDA

Mav, I hope and pray for your wife's safety while she is in CA. I have to admit, I don't like her being there, but know you and your family know how to watch out for themselves. Hope that the area she is in can band together to help eachother and this will be a good learning experience for all involved. I know there will always be the "bad" out there, but the good do out way them.

Painting is totally complete. After work today I came home to help hunny install the floors. Then granny to take her dinner. When we got back, w e installed the raised toilet, but then the water feed tube broke. . . We have one down in the shop but that will have to wait till tomorrow. I am done working today.

Over 21 quakes today ranging from 2.5 to 4.1, the volcanologist were called in to pacify the state because questions were raised in an unrelated interview. She was upset the state is allowing people to go back into the areas when they were taking measurements and setting in place instruments, the civilians driving in these areas are tripping the sensors, people are stepping in and crawling into the cracks, no help from the state to keep people out.

She is staying up at the Naval Base, the pictures are of the field she is working in, it also shows the EQ activity

I was wanting remote cameras so I can watch over the livestock for a long time, unknowing to me the wife conspired with the IT department back in February from WSU to put up a wireless grid pattern for the remote cameras (12) that operate at 12vdc with 12v battery and solar panels, she is having them hook up 6 BulletM2-Ti BM2-Ti Bullet M2HP titanium antennas (think I typed that correctly) to cover a wide grid. I thought they were here for her equipment, all she said in her text was Merry Christmas, happy birthday and happy anniversary, she says this should give use wireless at the stable too.

That's pretty cool. Some days I love technology and other's I hate it. This seems like a great use of it.
