Car firebombing has been a huge problem in France for a while. So much so that they stopped reporting the numbers back in 2009 to prevent "competition between cities" LOL.The fire also spread to part of the residence of the city councilor.
A facade and at least one room of the house are affected.
So there is some uncertainty about the motive.

The number of burnt cars, the count of which was stopped in 2009 to avoid any overbidding or competition between cities, has meanwhile fallen by 20% compared to last year, when 648 fire starts caused 874 burned vehicles.
