I'm curious to know everybody's opinion, What is the best brand/company for knives (NOT distributor)? Knives that are reasonably priced but durable, good quality, reliable, a large selection to choose from... a brand you trust?

Buck made in the USA is OK. But lets be clear ONLY ONES MADE IN THE USA http://www.buckknives.com/

Spyderco makes good and great knives but they are pricey at times http://www.spyderco.com/

Smith and Wesson should have stuck to guns. The knives they've been stamping their name on are CRAP and is ruining their reputation. http://www.smith-wesson.com/webapp/...4_750001_750051_757864_-1_757853_757837_image

Ka-bar makes a good knife. I just don't like most of their designs. http://www.kabar.com/

Victorinox........... More of a Multi-tool than a knife maker. Colt :p However the one real folder they make is of good quality http://www.victorinox.com/

Tops knives make good and great quality knives. http://www.topsknives.com/

Coldsteel Everyone knows is my favorite. Mainly because I've used them in field and they come through every time. http://www.coldsteel.com/

Forgot to mention, Cold Steel.... oooohhhh yeah!

there's a load of crappy knives being sold here using the big name brands that were actually knock-offs.

Spyderco knives are also made in China aside from the US. The US versions are twice as expensive but the quality is a whole lot better than their China versions.

My favorite is actually Puma, but they don't exactly fit the "reasonably priced" criteria. I used to carry Uncle Henry belt and pocket knives. I always respected the Buck brand, they just didn't appeal to me that much.

My favorite little pocketknife was a Gerber Silver Knight. Steel about as good as you can find. I don't remember the harness but it was way up there and it did hold an awesome edge. Had two of them and lost both of them.

Which reminds me. I have a terrible time hanging on to pocket knives. They just disappear. I've even lost three, count them, THREE Puma folding knives. These cost over a hundred bucks back in the early 70's.:(

Many many years ago, decades ago, the Uncle Henry's had a one year guarantee against loss. So I thought, YEAH that's what I need, a knife GUARANTEED against loss, so I got an Uncle Henry pocketknife, fully expecting to lose it within a year. Well DANG if the guarantee didn't work! I STILL have that Uncle Henry knife to the very day! (and I still lose pocketknives like crazy)o_O

Well actually I have a website that is marketed towards us preppers and survivalists and I'd like to add some weapons to my inventory. But I don't want to sell crap either. I figured getting a few opinions through experience would be the best method.

Cool, pm me your site. Also don't forget about multi tools.

CRKT (Columbia River Knife and Tools) is good budget knive, never had problems with them and they are sharp and sturdy for the price.

I have two of the m16, they are cool but don't get much pocket time cause I really like my leatherman c33

If u want a really good knife that is durable and affordable you cant go wrong with an" Old Hickory" butcher knife they are easily customizable and are only 9 dollars new ! they make great bushcraft knives and can take a beating . I myself carry one that i shortened 2 inches and made a sheath for . They sharpen very easily because they are carbon steel and they hold an edge but! you do have to maintain them because they will rust as will any non stainless knife .
