It always impress Me how well the Voyager XL handles and carries for such a large knife .

The recurve blades don't work so well on my stones. Actually they don't work at all, at least the exaggerated ones like the Voyager XL Vaquero. Now the Voyager XL Clip Point I could get into...

The Vaquero blades are not that exaggerated . They are similar to a recurve Bowie . They sharpen well , put a little spin on the blade as you get past the swell .

Psalm, I'm just not into recurves, wavy blades, serrated blades, etc. I use old fashioned large flat stones and I need the edge to lay flat on the stone and not bugger up the corners.

I use the worksharp for it and I have no problems with any recurve.

I have trouble getting a good clean point on a belt type sharpener. They always round the tip off.

I lift just before the tip and finish tips on a stone or this sanding paper sharpener I made.
