The WARTHOG transfer could just be a test to verify if the Warthog is still viable in a modern military conflict. If the Russians shoot them out of the sky, then there is no real reason to continue supporting them. The Warthog has always been something of a red-haired stepchild of the Air Force. They didn't realize it's worth until Desert Storm.

The Warthog isn't a fighter jet, it is a close air support aircraft. When they adopted it, it replaced the AH-56 Cheyenne helicopter in that role because the Army realized that a helicopter had some inherent weaknesses for close air support.
It has always excelled at that role, and it's the only aircraft specifically designed for that role. When they are used for ground assault, like going after missile launchers or armored columns behind enemy lines, they excel at that too but that's when they are exposed to the most anti-aircraft fire.

I am not sure that the Warthog has faced an opponent with modern missile defenses. They have excellent air to ground support capabilities but I am not sure how well they would do against Russia defenses. I would not want to be in a tank being pursued by a Warthog. I do not know about the Warthog's anti-missiles defenses. I have read they are very durable and can take a lot of punishment but anti-aircraft missiles are a different critter.

I'm convinced all this $$ he's sending over there is coming right back to his and his family's pockets after it's laundered through some bogus company they are connected with.
