It has a totally non-practical razor edge that will split hairs. I cut myself with it several times. You only have to touch the edge to cut yourself and you won't even know you cut yourself until it starts bleeding. I told him it was perfectly capable of chopping down trees or fighting injuns, but I didn't recommend doing that with it if he didn't want to chip the edge, LOL.

I have 2 Randal knives. Both I inherited from my Dad.
I don't have pictures of the one he carried in Nam' in '69, it is buried in the safe and that is buried in the container bunker. lol
The Randal knife (Model 1) Dad carried in "Nam originally had a stacked leather hand grip but that rotted away in the jungle. Dad had Mom send him some deer antler and her formed it and attached it while in the field. He has 3 close-up confirmed kills with that knife.
But I do have pictures of the Border Patrol Memorial knife Randal Model 15 produced. It has black micarta scales and his name stamped into the blade and is #24 of the production run. I don't know the total run production number.

Went survival camping last night with some friends. One of them had just bought this Cold Steele fighting shield.
Not sure if I like it or not.
The knife pictured is a Randall Model 1 I inherited from my Dad. He carried this one in Viet Nam 65-67.

Interested to hear Roninsenseis' opinion on the shield.

The buckler isn’t my favorite shield. However it is the most useful shield for a sword or knife fight. The cold steel buckler has proven to be tough as all heck even against sword and machete and axe strikes. It’s useful even made mostly of plastic.
