I've been properly prepping for 6 months but have been preparing to prep since I was about 16 by making bugout plans. At the time I didn't know I was prepping though. I recently found out that I'm a true prepper when I started massively stock pilling non parish able foods and medical supplies. I was called a hoarder but I refused to get rid of it. I want to expand my security, weapons knowledge and safety, I really want to be a police officer, but I don't see that happening, I have planted a garden, but my resources are limited so 80% of my preps are things I've accumulated for free by using my resources. I hope by the time I'm able to really put a lot of cash into my prepping it isn't too late..... I believe in God and Jesus and hope that then end times don't come in my life time, but I do believe that our country is in so much debt that it will bite us in the butt sooner than later, I live on the west coast and we just had a huge 6.7 earth quake in sanfransisco. My mother is a prepper, I am a prepper and I have a network of friends who are medium preppers. They don't want to invest in serious prepping items. I have written my own prepper bible, and told my husband that after he retires we will be moving and getting a very rural piece of property so I can have natural resources. I'm am a skilled archer, and I love to make weapons that can be set on fire to make them that much more deadly. Hence my name and the tattoo I have down my arm. Pyro Virus. Fire will always be my choice to make a weapon deadlier. I think guns will be useless because once you run out of bullets you defenseless unless you can make bullets, but what happens when the fun powder runs out? I could go on and on and on but I will leave it at this. :) thanks for reading! And if anyone has any good advice to give a young Prepper like me, it would be much appreciated and I will share what I learn! :3

Is the compound bow all you use bow wise or do you own recurves and long bows as well?

P.S. Welcome to the site!!

I have only learned the compound bow, I really want to get a cross bow as well, but I fashion my own weapons as well out of throwing knives and other sharp objects well connected to spears and base ball bats. I want to learn as much as I can, this year I plan to go hunting for the first time ever, I've always fished but hunting is a big deal to me for survival and a quiet weapon is very versatile so others cannot hear you and find your kill and take it.

Hello Pyro Virus, I think I'll call you Fire Bug, As for bows its about the only thing not licenced here in the UK so we in our family all home short compounds for Home Security and TDRs for hunting ( Were-rabbits, Chavs and Socialists when they are in season)

I just talked with my new or about getting a long bow, he wants to teach me the cross bow and give me more knowledge on the compound bow so I don't get snapped. He is a 40 year veteran as a bow hunter. I'm so excited to soak up his knowledge, his wife is also teaching me to can my yields from my garden. I made a new weapon last night with a madrone branch with nails and screws put in the end. Can anyone tell me how I post pictures of weapons I've made? I would love to be able to share my weapon making knowledge and show everyone what I've done so they could add their ideas to make it better.

Welcome lotta info here . I shoot compound and recurve bows but prefer firearms and don't worry about running out of ammo . Prepping is much more simple than some make it seem work through the threads and start posting .

I feel so welcome here I love it!!!! I have been so alone on this that I doubted my self for a pinch. The reason why I worry about fire arms is because of the lack of recourses to make new bullets where I am, so I just try to be as prepRed as possible, I do have for arms though as well as a last resort :) and I like fire bug. I can be happy as a fire fly being called that. Pun intended lol. :) I've already relieved so much useful info and so much hospitality on here that I think my husband is getting jealous cause I'm always on here now, lol. But in the long run he will thank me and most of that thanks will be because of all you amazing people educating me! So from the bottom of my heart thank you!!!

Just a few of my weapons preps........ Not bad for only being 27!!!:) I plan get get more and better weapons but recently I have been focusing on stock piling food and water. :3

To go down a rabbit trail a little. I think well made shoes will be a much much more important barter item, EVERYONE WILL NEED SHOES. Anyone agree? I think I will be collecting boots from the good will to stock pile for barter.
