New guy from Arizona. New to prepping as well.

I joined the site to learn and get advice. In the next 3 or so years my wife and I will be retiring. We plan on relocating to the south, we have mostly been looking in Mississippi/Alabama area but may look at southeast Missouri. We don't want it too cold. I'm a native of the AZ desert and she's from Louisiana, we're warm blooded.

The main questions we have are:
How much money do we need (same question everyone has)
While we're still earning, what expensive purchase(s) should we consider?

For now, we are working on food storage, maintenance of the house/cars and overall planning.

Thanks

Warm Welcome from the Arizona valley folks. :USA: Why relocate outside Arizona? Cheap land is available in Arizona, away from the big cities? Just curious, not condemning.

Welcome, and yeah, why leave AZ? Most people here in Cali are heading to AZ..... :)

Thanks for the warm welcome.

I've lived in AZ my entire life and want a change of scenery. For me, I want to go somewhere with trees/fishing/hunting. My wife is from the southeast but hasn't lived there in 25 years. She would like to return. She grew up going to Gulf Shores, AL for vacation so she wants to be within a few hours of the beach. I don't want to be too close due to the hurricane/flooding threat.

Arizona has a lot offer and I'll miss it. But I wont miss living in the city. I don't think the south is better, but it will be different for me.

Wife is from Alabama, her dad took her to Cali when her mother died but she left Cali for Washington but wants to move to Arizona me on the other hand prefer Idaho or Utah. If Washington forces us out it's going to be one of them three States but I have a rule 'follow the water' so more than likely it's Northern Idaho... but then again, the wife has a set of rules too :eek:wned:
