  • 29 percent of people dislike canned cranberry sauce but reluctantly eat it anyway.
  • 24 percent do the same for green bean casserole.
  • 22 percent eat sweet potatoes or sweet potato casserole even though they don’t like it.
  • 21 percent eat pumpkin pie but don’t enjoy it.
  • And 19 percent don’t even like turkey, but eat it anyway.
I never touched the cranberry sauce growing up, but when I found out about the health benefits of cranberries I started eating it.
Green been casserole, meh... I can live without it. I'll eat it sometimes if there aren't enough other things I like. But I much prefer just plain ol' boiled green beans.
The only way sweet potatoes are edible to me is in sweet potato fries.
I LOVE pumpkin pie, but it doesn't love me. LOL. I don't eat dessert anymore.
Most thanksgiving turkey is too dry for me. I generally go for the dark meat.

Funny, I love the canned cranberry but don’t care for it fresh. I can enjoy green beans just about anyway you can make em. As far as sweet potatoes, I want to like them, but just don’t.... it’s right there next to pumpkin pie, blah.
Now, anyone who doesn’t like turkey should be stripped and beaten in the streets! Lol.
As far as the best things on thanksgiving, fresh turkey gravy is better than mother’s milk! Real mashed potatoes, with a few lumps of potato in it, and of course smothered in that gravy... yum. A sage dressing, again smothered in the gravy.. (as you can see from above, I kind of like my gravy) there has to be a good sweet corn and fresh rolls from the oven too. this year I think I’m going to find a bed and breakfast somewhere and not do the big meal here for a change. The kids are kind of being, well kids, so I think I’m going to let them fend for themselves this year. I have about four more turkeys still in the freezer right now and never need an excuse or special holiday to make a feast.

Wow, you guys are really picky, the only thing I don't eat is Grapefruit. My wife cooks so good that many of my friends call and invite themselves to come to dinner...
Turkey, taters, toppings and stuffing. Thanks for Thanksgiving.
SPAM Arcticdude? Your dog eats better than many many people in England!
My pumpkin pie is so good, if you put a plate of it on top of your head, your tongue will beat your brains out tryin'ta get to it!! Live and party free, GP

I don't consider myself picky. If I'm invited over to someone's house for dinner I'll eat whatever they put in front of me. But if I'm fixing the meal I'll make what I prefer. I like grapefruit, especially ruby red grapefruit.
I've had to eat English food for years. I prefer Spam.

I love Ruby Red grapefruit with salt sprinkled on it.

I like all that most dislike I guess except for the canned cranberry sauce. . . I'll eat it if that is the only thing available with turkey but I like a fresh cranberry sauce made with apples myself. Our turkey is always injected or brined no matter what way it is cooked. Injected and never over cooked always makes a moist turkey, so not sure why one would say it is dry. I made a sweet potatoe casserole for Thanksgiving years ago and our friend to this day still expects it and saves it for dessert. . . I broke it to him yesterday that we are not having it at our house this year and we were invited to the oldest sons. . . his response was I was just going to have to make it for him before I leave. And I will. That will probably be his only Thanksgiving type dish on that day, but I may make him some more to send. He has no family here and has spent the last 10 years or so at our house during holiday time. Yeah, I kinda feel guilty. . . . but I want to see my baby girl. She really hates me I think ;). . . . I have only gotten to see her a handful of times since she was born a year and a half ago. I got to see her this last weekend for first granddaughters 4 yr old birthday. She would look at me and smile a few times but never would come to me. . . that just breaks my heart. The other three have no issues, but they are a closer drive and I am able to go see more often. In fact granddaughter #2 I was holding when having to leave out. She cried when I had to pass her of to one of her older cousins. when leaving. She held out her arms wanting her Nana. . . I could play with those babies all day long if I could but they can wear me out about half way thru.

These are the least popular Thanksgiving foods, according to survey

(CNN) — A new survey reveals the least popular items at the Thanksgiving dinner table.

First off, the online Harris poll of more than 2,000 adults found 68 percent of Americans secretly dislike a classic Thanksgiving food, yet they eat it anyway out of tradition.

Here’s the breakdown:

  • 29 percent of people dislike canned cranberry sauce but reluctantly eat it anyway.
  • 24 percent do the same for green bean casserole.
  • 22 percent eat sweet potatoes or sweet potato casserole even though they don’t like it.
  • 21 percent eat pumpkin pie but don’t enjoy it.
  • And 19 percent don’t even like turkey, but eat it anyway.
Speaking of canned cranberry sauce, the poll also found nearly half of Americans say it is “disgusting.”

Love Cranberry Jelly, cranberry sauce is just okay. Love white meat turkey. Dark meat just okay. Love smashed potatoes. Love fresh corn, sweet potatoes just okay. Love the turkey gravy. Pumpkin pie, smothered in whip cream, is my holiday treat.

Cranberry jelly, cranberry sauce, they are both delicious and the haters need to stop. But dark meat turkey is better than white meat because it's more juicier. Sweet potatoes are good any way they are prepared. And ALL THE PIES, not just pumpkin pie - we would make apple pies, pecan pies, sweet potato pies, pies with berries left over in the freezer, really any kind we could make.

Reading things like that, brings tears to my eyes you people. Being with the family, visiting cousins and such. 41 years here and I have only see half of my cousins since 1985. Got nephews and nieces in VA, WA, TX, CA, NY, and OK. that I have never even seen or gotten a picture of. The family has kinda forgotten me over here. I call them, but have never been called back. Send CDs full of photos, get nothing back. Oh well, it was my choice to marry a Hungarian Baroness. Her family lost most of their land after WWII, then the rest after the 1956 revolt and the following invasion from Russians in Budapest. We're not rich, but we are doing better than most. Enjoy your families, holidays and the great American style foods, don't miss the horror stories about the US but I do miss America. Live free, GP+
