Since I stopped eating cold cereal, my milk consumption has dropped next to nothing. The wife now buys in quart size.

What?? Goats milk out does cows in my opinion any day of the week and I have both. . . You obviously haven't had the opportunity to have some good goat milk ;).
I remember a guy from high school had goats. He would squirt the warm yellow milk directly from the udder into his mouth. Gag... I know it’s probably good but I kind of like pasturazation.

You do realize that pasteurization actually kills off all the local benefits goat and or cow milk contains? I'll take fresh any day, just not off the teat like your friend.. Even though I clean before milking I still strain it just in case.

I have read that, but think for commercialization pasturaziation is probably good. As far as getting used to drinking fresh milk, well if shtf happens I’m betting it will taste pretty darned good.

At that point in my life I couldn’t tell the difference in a new mama and a billy! I don’t know if it was really yellow but it wasn’t the white I was accustomed to.
You'd know if he was trying to milk a billy. . . :) Sorry that makes me laugh. That would be a struggle on your hands, but maybe it would only be mine since they are not accostome to. My billy's are free to roam. . . my poor girls are the ones that have jobs to do,

Lol!

I grew up drinking fresh raw milk. Mom used to skim the cream off the top and make butter. At that time I hand milked the cows, don't think I could anymore. We plan on getting a milk cow soon, and I'll get an electric milker rather than milking by hand.
I remember the first time that I drank some store bought pasteurized milk. It tasted like water to me. In pasteurized milk all the good stuff is cooked out and what's left is more water than milk.

I don't buy into all the scare tactics regarding store bought milk, I just don't like the taste and don't like cooking with it, it's to damn watery without the fat content. We do have a holstein we milk but most of the milking is done in the fall and winter (more fat content) but given I drink a gallon a week two milking cows doesn't supply enough milk for everyone here thus we look to outside sources for raw milk and make damn sure it's a reliable supplier, we have a lot of suppliers here I wouldn't trust with a screwdriver and the papers here are always reporting e-coli, cryptosporidium and salmonella from raw milk being sold. Given the US drinks a ton of milk a day I can understand why it is processed the way it is.
