Not sure what it is....

Could be that it is going to be 80+ degrees on Christmas.
Could be lack of money so my shopping wasn't nearly as much.
Could be difficulties at work.
Could be that the wife is still looking for work.

Then I had the truck accident week of Thanksgiving.

Not to brood on it really, just doesn't feel like it this year. I'm really hoping that changes in the next few days though. At least I have a paid vacation in there to decompress some. Probably the best gift of all.

Anyone else feeling this way though? Or am I just a bit scrooged this year? Damn, I finally converted fully to grumpy old man syndrome!

I'm with you. This year sucked and Christmas is being killed by the PC crowd. They love to tell us to use tolerance but, when it's their turn it doesn't apply.....

Also MERRY CHRISTMAS to you and all of yours GAZ!!!!!

Your still walking amongst the living ;) Much to be thankful for.

In perspective;
We have a friend that was burned alive in a trucking accident last week, we are burying him tomorrow, he leaves a wife and three kids, his first grand child was born yesterday.

Yeah, it's easy to forget the good you have in life. At work we just had a family in need picked for Christmas gift donations. One of the daughters only asked that her siblings got gifts to open on Christmas Day. That kind of helped me put some things in perspective. I am surrounded by so many blessings here, no matter how small, and there are many that have nothing. Never forget, if you have health, the possibilities are endless.

Fair enough. Could have been worse. My condolences for your friend, and the family. Man, that is rough.

sorry to hear about your friend mav..

yeah.christmas aint even close to what it use to be.family members go thier own way.to much comercialism, not enough money, among other things.famly and friends thats passed away..we'll be lucky to have 15 people this year.where we use to have over 20 each year..

hasn't felt like Christmas since I was a kid, too much rampant commercialism to make it feel anything special.
I agree with the commercialism crap. I couldn't care less about any of that, but I have to admit, helping a family of five kids have a good Christmas, when they wouldn't have had anything, did remind me what the holiday is about.

I also agree Christmas is way way to commercialized, the meaning and enjoyment isn't the same outside our home as once was but we do enjoy the meaning and fun within our home. As bad as things are or may seem the Wife and I are home spending family time with the kids and grand kids away from all that commercialism and day to day problems.

Gaz, all I can say is that you and all of your family are still here, able to enjoy the holiday season together. Everyone is safe and sound, even after your accident. It doesn't matter WHAT is under the tree. . . Christmas is what you make of it and honestly it has gotten way to commercialized in my book! I could care less what I receive, . . . yes I had a list for the kids, like a new 4 cup measuring cup and a new bathroom scale cause mine gets stuck, if I get it I do if not it wont kill me. This is taken for granted so many times. . . You just never know what tomorrow will bring. Leave all the stresses of job at work were it should be. Leave all the financial difficulties alone for that day. Enjoy the time you have with each other!!
