Yes things all going south very rapidly and Sept/Oct are usually the months when the big collapses happen. China market down +6% yesterday and down today by 4% but 15 minutes to end of trading stocks rallied to +1.23% I think gov intervention. Even what I thought the richest country in the world Saudi Arabia is now borrowing money. Mainstream media is now reporting daily on imminent disaster with finances. The bubbles have to pop soon.

"Venezuela's economy is in shambles and basic goods like napkins are hard to come by. Earlier this year, officials from Trinidad and Tobago allegedly offered to send tissue paper to Venezuela in exchange for oil."

I think your right. And it kinda scares me also because come sept my plant I work at will be going on a big strike you will hear and see about it. Were asking for alot. I work at the kansas city ford plant and as you might know we were the only auto manufactuer that didnt take the bailout from big gov. Instead we cut our own benifits through our union. And now since ford has pulled a multibillion dollar profit the last few years we want our benifits back. But i garuntee them big wigs at ford wont empty out a dime without out fighting hard for it. When we go on strike ill be digging into my supply and that scares me a little cause if the collapse happens during or shortly after id be forced to change my plans and preps.

Yeah I work in the mining industry and jobs are falling fast, like I have never before seen in 25years in the industry. To loose a job and dig into preps just prior to a collapse is a worry of mine, in 2013 was unemployed for 8 months, have not recovered yet but preps are more than I had previously.

I am still thinking by October 2015 we could very well see the big one and bank accounts across the world put on hold.

Macgyver, good luck to you come Sept with your work strike. It's awesome ya'll took a cut to keep the company from having to take the bail out cash. Bus as you said if there making profits that large you need those things back.

I won't try to pick dates, but am willing to but we will see it one day before too long.

I definitely think economic collapse is the most likely scenario to be watching out for in my humble opinion.

its probably the 1 thing that will start the slide down to the final collapse of the system(s).

Currently, this is my number one threat for a SHTF scenario. The good news, is that this would likely not be as quick, so we'd have time to heed some warning signs. Bad news, is that this would likely create a need for martial law in urban centers, and without "thinning the herd" as many scenarios do, it means a lot of folks competing for scarce resources once it all fully goes south.

I suspect it would likely take a week or so before food riots began, which would then lead to anarchy and harsh crackdowns in major cities. Most military resources would likely be assigned to major cities and highways.

Totally agree with you Gazork. And after all that crap starts that's when trash, sewage and other services start to dekay or stop all together. Thus leaving super unsanitary condition and outbreaks of something. Then it'll kinda snowball after that I personally think. The economic collapse is the first domino to fall in a series to follow.

I agree that most govt resources would be allocated to larger urban areas. Pretty much leaving lots of us on our own. Does this weeks Dow drop count? JK. Although a 350 point drop today isn't pretty. I seriously do question why I still contribute to a 401k!

An Economic collapse is what I mainly prepare for aswell. For a long while I wondered would it be a war with Russia first for the economy to collapse, or vice versa. It makes no sense that war first, then a collapse. Well we are now seeing the beginning of the end economy as we know it. That explosion in China was no accident. Was it us that set it off? Who knows. I am MORE than sure China knows. It's all about timing. When the time is right, they will crash the economy. When the time is right they will start another HOT war. This time with either Russia and/or China. We DO NOT want war with either period. Macgyver my thoughts are with your brother, I hope the strike works out for you. Get ready, it is now 1 minute to midnight.

I don't think the end is tomorrow or anything, but it sure was a crappy week for wall street. I thought a 350 point drop yesterday was bad, until I saw the 530 point drop today!

Here is something else to watch very closely. http://www.marketwatch.com/investing/index/dxy

When you go to the store to buy food or whatever, and notice the price is higher. It's not the price of the goods we buy that are going up, it's the value of the dollar declining. Another good indicator of knowing if the value of the US dollar is declining is watching the price of gold. If Gold goes up, the dollar goes down, and vice versa. This is because China, Japan, and any others that has bought our debt/currency is now dumping/selling the currency, and/or buying assets such as ports/national parks etc etc.

you don't need to watch the markets in the UK, the NHS(national health service-free at the point of need) is groaning at the seams, we haven't got enough housing for anyone who lives here-not including that lot in Calais just itching to come here, "food banks" are a growth industry, there is one in every city, large town and even some smaller ones, government departments are being cut to the bone, councils have their budgets cuts year on year, and now the police are being reduced, all our local police forces have had their numbers cut in half- now they are talking about reducing them by another 200 officers. its obvious that something is about to happen.

what I find strange is that there seems to be a shortage of money...but alot to spend on illegals and their welfare..here they take money from pensioners, education, child-welfare and direct it those these illegals coming here in their designer clothes and iphones....and the media still have the balls to tell us here that they are refugees (20-40yr old males,no women or children) we have an obligation to help.. why don't they stay and try to fight for their country?? to rebuild their country??

The whole one minute till midnight clock thing I keep hearing on the news and suck. What are y'all's thoughts about this? A scare type tactic or something more legitimate. Personally I'm not sure and have mixed thoughts in it.

It's just a saying or indicator as to how close we are to a collapse, not only economically, but with society as well. In other words just be as ready/prepared as you can be within the next month or 2. September is 9 days from now. Not saying it will happen on Sept 1st, but sometime within September/October. Peace be with you brother.

I don't think we will have a collapse anytime in the near future, but I do think inflation is going to start soon. The dollars value is going to go down a lot. All that debt is going to catch up with us sooner or later. I still think we should be holding some of our politicians responsible for the mess we are in. Throw a few in jail for gross mismanagement and mayby it would make the rest think before spending more than they can afford.

I think economics is the main thing at the moment, especially where Europe is concerned, its not just Greece, Spain Italy and Portugal have their own economic problems too, even France and Germany are not immune. Britain is a net contributor to the EU and (IF) when we get our referendum next year the outcome might have serious repercussions for the EU as a whole. if the EU collapsed-and that is quite possible, its a failed project- many countries are just waiting to see what Britain will do before they make their own move.

I think the whole world is pretty well connected now financially. Unfortunately there are serious problems in too many places, and the forecast isn't looking good for anyone. I don't think any country is immune to the problems today.

when we look around and see what is going on around the world, it dosent bode good for the future, personally I think we are heading for one big crash which will bring on societal collapse.

I glad I'm not a kid just starting out in the world today. I think they are going to be the ones seeing major changes during their lifetimes. As the economy gets worse, even without a big collapse, you will see violence increase. People aren't nice when they are hungry, and lots of them weren't very nice to begin with!

I am concerned about the reliance on technology, which is okay whilst we can access technology or we can afford to access it but what happens when we cant? I know just how much people like their facebook, twitter and the like. heck I see kids walking down the road, head down, texting each other and the person they are texting is walking alongside them!! once something happens to remove that technology, say economical or political how long can a country function without its technology? shut down technology or the means to access that technology and you will see the collapse of the banking, power and communications industries, we will all be living in what to all intents and purposes a third world country, and just how many people today can live like that or would want to, as I said, societal collapse would be inevitable.

Money is a big problem around the world but ZA is not in debt so we're fine and perhaps the rand will be strengthened provided it isn't gold that plummets in which case despite my young age, my bow flameberge and throwing knives are all I need.

I think the young generation of today would have a really hard time adjusting. I would really miss most of the comforts I have, like a/c, the ability to enjoy watching the evening world news and weather, the ability to just pick up a phone and talk to someone hundreds of miles away, etc.

Holy Moly..... The thought of Ohio's sweltering-humid summers and frigid winters without climate controlled environments terrifies me.... The cold I can take, but 90% humidity and 90 degrees putting the heat index at 110..... Thats no good for me....

Anyway though, I will say that I have major concern about the economy moving into september and october. I dont really have any reason why, but I have always had this unsettling feeling that oct of 2015 was going to be when things start to roll downhill really fast. It is interesting though how many more people are starting to sound the alarm for crisis. I dont know if theyre at all credible or if theyre like the people saying gold oil and silver are all going to zero.

Regardless of when something should happen, keep prepping my friends.

I saw last night that Asian stocks tanked again, so ours is likely to do the same today as well. I'm still not worried as I can't touch any of my retirement funds for at least 8 yrs. hopefully whatever mess we go thru will be on the way back up by then. I am glad I'm not a stock broker though :).
