I would be very reluctant to set booby traps. Remember, there worse things than being killed. Killing someone that you love is one of them.

no booby traps or long range sniping >>> just asking for trouble - people will be roaming around - especially in the initial time period after the SHTF hit - unfortunately, it'll also be the most desperate times ...

keep in mind that vehicle travel won't be lasting very long - even if the roads are safe & passable >>> people will be hiking by compass off road VS using the old road system that didn't take into account the "as the crow flies" route - you could have a hiker cutting across the county on a diagonal where no road was ever conceived necessary ....
