Hi, just saying hi. I'm from Michigan and this is the first prep forum I've joined. In Michigan I feel like a lot of people are "accidental preppers" just because we've been raised to can and store food and what not. Also a lot of backwoods engineering going on So I've got a lot of ideas to fine tune about alternative energy sources when the grid goes down. Anyway, I've seen a lot of great advise on here so far, and hopefully I'll be able to give some in return.

howdy from a texan .... and welcome to the forum and family...there's quiet a few knowledgeable folks here that'll gladly tell ya what you need to know,or at least point ya in the right direction and/or give ya a good idea or 2..and by all means jump right on in with any replies you have on a topic.and start new topics if/when needed....

welcome from this side of the puddle too :)

Welcome. Just remember, when it comes to the grid going down, the old ways worked for a reason. Unless you've got the dough for a large LP tank and generator, or an extensive solar system, post SHTF, most of us will be cooking and heating with wood, and using oil lamps and candles for light.
