I have not been here in awhile. I guess I was more focused on political situation, guns and militias. Well, now that the militias have utterly failed and in the political world, our country has been stolen from us, maybe it is time to focus on simply surviving.

I do want to say a word about this. I had two houses, one in the mountains and one lower by a lake. The mountain house burned down due to US Forest Service incompetence. That was a bitch but the important fact here is the mountain house was where I stored my food, supplies, meds., tools, etc. Now it is gone and I have to start over. So, please consider storage of your stuff in a non-inflammable environment.

The welcome mat is always out...

Buried in fire proof cache containers is normally the best, or at the bottom of your pond in water proof container, sorry for your loss.

And you are 100% correct the militias were defeated without a shot being fired by a cunning and devious but oh so predictable socialist campaign. Control the schools, then control the media, then you control the narrative. Use fifth columnists inside the republicans to create anarchic violence that can be blamed on republicans. TYPICAL Socialist insurgency tactiics and you wonderful but naive Americans would not heed the warnings from those of us in europe who love the US and have seen these tactics before.

Things WILL get worse before they get better, but what will be the cost to the American people in that period?

Hang on. 20 posts in a year and a half, and you've 'been away'? Come on, you were never 'here'.

Second, I'd blame California more than the US Forestry Service. CA is making all the rules about no fire breaks.

I'm not trying to start a fight, but let's be real. If you can live with straight-up responses like this, welcome aboard. If not, I can live with that too. But there is no time to ignore the elephants in the room.

Do you know a lot about the USFS TexasFreedom?

There are hundreds of thousand of square miles of underbrush. Nobody can cut it or control burn it nor should they. Unfortunately, when President Trump talks about forest management we have to remember he is from Queens.

I could go on for pages and pages and pages with complaints about the USFS. In short, they are incompetent in everything they do. I have lived alongside them since 1988. My daughter worked for the USFS in a field office for 15 years so I have my observations and experience and during this time I had her giving me the inside scoop on what the USFS really thought.

The USFS is not the FBI. There are good people in it. But there are compounding problems in hiring and management, education and lack of understanding how a forest works which just drag it down and cost all of us billions of dollars.

California has its own state parks and within that forest management. It also has Cal Fire which functions in rural areas without fire departments and secondly as structure protection in rural areas. This second branch, structure protection, is very, very, very good. In fact it is the only state function with is good. So Structure Protection-Cal Fire is like Seal Team Six. They stand there after everything else (the USFS Fire) fails. They stand there on one side of the road with your house on the other side with flames hundreds of feet in the air coming. All they have is water, backfires and helicopter support. They stopped a fire cold, walking distance from my house two years ago.

If California gets any money from the federal government for its fires, I do not know about it. The USFS spends 40-50% of its allocated federal money fighting fires. They should get nothing. This is because whatever they say they do or whatever you think they do has no influence on a forest fire at all. But that is not to say the management of the USFS does no heavy lifting. They bend down and lift up those heavy paychecks until the rains come and put out the fires for them.
