Not that I've ever had mine on an AR, mine has a titanium adapter by the way, lol, so fancy! The sound from the 10.5 inch barrel firing 5.56 is so loud it's like someone punched you in the ear. Mostly the left, I don't know why.
The solvent trap reduces that to tolerable without plugs or muffs. Still loud. But totally doable without ear protection.
Seriously illegal in Illinois, and never to be mounted on a gun here.
Easy to clean, durable, mine is still a legit fuel filter. I haven't melted off the outer covering. Get the kit for the cups if you go this route vs a manufactured suppressor. The engine freeze plugs can be made to work, but they aren't the best and shift a bit, and the last one takes some massaging to get the length of the stack right, for the end caps to screw down tight. Not enough difference for the amount of hassle.
The cups are machined to be the correct length. Solvent trap fuel cups.
Gotta say, this whole thing is dicey. We actually use these on the farm, or at least have a use for them. It's not at all a strange item to have laying around here.
A suburban home, maybe it's more noticeable? Anyway, they work, but like most things it's not like the movies. Still a gunshot, just a more comfortable one for the shooter.
