Has anyone here grown potatoes in a pot and have they had any viable yields? Was it cheaper to buy from the store?

I've heard/read different accounts in 'hilling' them, one being that you must plant seed potatoes in succession 'up' the pot in order to get more potatoes and one being that if you continue to bury the stems (from the same spud plant), they'll also continue to grow more potatoes.

Anyone here tried either or and were they successful? I still plan on buying some seed potatoes and trying it for myself when I can but I thought it would be interesting to see what your experiences have been with that.

The Allotment Diary guy shows what to do. He's my allotment guru.:D

I used this method last year and got comparable results.
