My hippie neighbors across the street have their own economy : I just watched them load up a U-Haul trailer with at least 50 full grown marijuana plants.
Well, Jayson, 50 plants is not legal in California unless 5 people are involved. I hate leftists so I would have absolutely no problem snitching them off to federal authorities.

Over here the food prices don't raise by the first view. But the packing weight goes smaller (the packing itselves still has same size). So at least an hidden price raising.
The really naughty explain came from Coca Cola Switzerland as they reduced the bottle size from 0.5l to 0.45l (and from 1.5 to 1.25l): We care about peoples health and waste.... 🤪 The price for each bottle is still the same btw.

If you want to see a real example of inflation take a look at an economic chart from the 1700's to today. For about 250 years prices for everything stayed pretty much level. Until the early 1900's thanks to the socialist agenda; big centralized government, social security, welfare, endless foreign wars, etc. Its just going to get much worse under this new nanny state communist regime, with unlimited immigration, refugees and "free" stuff for everyone, except for the tax payer of course.
My best score was at Christmas time. Publix had standing rib roast on sale for 6$ a pound. I got 7 or 8 roasts, 4 ribs each at about 5 to 6 lbs each. I normally cut things up for two person meals too but left these whole as I love the leftovers. My vacuum sealer is a great tool To make things last in the freezer.
this response got attached to the wrong post somehow.....

Pardon the pun, but the state law enforcement agencies are handcuffed because California passed Proposition 215 which legalized marijuana.

$6 bucks a pound really isnt a deal Brent, well maybe by today's standards it sadly is. I'm selling my butcher steers for $1.23 a pound, on the hoof. The buyer makes the arrangements to buther. $50 kill fee and $.70 cents a pound to cut and wrap. That comes to less than $2.00 a pound for prime grass fed black or red angus beef. A little more if I grain finish the beef.

As much as I love beef I’m really surprised I haven’t bought a whole cow or even half. If I had a few more acres I would raise one or two. But around here I’ve seen standing rib roast for 18.00 a pound when regular priced. With my arteries I should have cut out the stuff long ago but still believe some things in life are just worth the risks!

No one gets out of life alive.

As I’ve said here before, now would be a good time to consider selling and making a move to more sustainable water resources. You can bet that when things get really dry it will be hard to give away land in some of the hard hit areas.

I would say the time to buy was just after the 08-09' housing crash. I sold my townhouse a year before.

But, yes, I would agree to move to somewhere that has more reliable water sources sooner than later.
If this trend continues, I expect there to be a mass migration in and around the Great Lakes area. The second and third order effects of that could be interesting, and not in a good way.

Just curious, you were a marine, were you an MP or something similar? I was a 91delta, Army.

I have actually considered selling my place here. I am retiring in 8 months anyways and with housing at all time highs now would be a good time to sell. The problem is what to do afterwards. I’ve got a pretty good setup here for homesteading so unless I can think of something better I will likely sit tight.

Whenever the ground drys out and turns dusty I consider selling my place too. We'll probably never sell, but we are looking at buying a second place over on the coast. I found an 800 acre property that we're going to look at as soon as we can get away. Its covered in mostly 80 year old timber and has lots of water.

Maybe it isn't so much that you're eating beef, but possibly more like the type of beef you're eating. There are many breeds of beef that are low in fat and cholesterol. You just aren't going to find it in the commercialy raised beef at the supermarket. If you don't already have one, go buy a freezer and look around your area and buy a half or whole beef. If you can find a Scottish Highland steer for sale that could be a good choice for you.

I normally avoid ribeyes and other fatty cuts and have always trimmed off all the fat from any meats I eat. I eat a lot of sirloin due to the lower fat content too. Luckily (or unluckily), I just have genes that allow me to hold onto plaque more than most. I am on drugs now that have kept it from getting worse for a few years at least. Still not a license to eat all of it I want though. I have two chest freezers here and am surprised I haven’t looked into buying half a cow before now.

@Arcticdude & @Brent S

You're talking about cents by meat 😂

You wanna know how the cost's for meat are in Switzerland?
Pork between 28$ and 38$ by kg
Normal beef starts by 40$ and can go up to 55$ by kg
Angus beef well, it's really luxury. Halfway good quality starts by 70 / 80$ by kg an raises up to 120$ by kg for premium....
