911 Tactical also sells laser pointers/locators. I purchased a year ago a Laser Genetics ND-5 Laser Locator at the 911Tactical
website. It was originally purchased to give helo's inbound to medical aids a way to quickly find the incident. I've only used it twice
with great succcess and praises from CDF captains and pilots who agreed that it was a great tool for such a thing. From the
same officials who prasied it also ended up "banning" it from volunteer fire depts, at least our dept. I thought that was crazy, to
ban something that could make a difference in a life and death situation. alot of times dispatch will mis-direct the chopper unless
volunteers have GPS and can give the pilots coords to where we are. Sometimes this does not happen and having this locator
pointed skyward the pilot can see it from miles away. So far I have verified it's visibilty at 14 miles when pointed skyward. It's
visibilty may be farther.
In recent months I have used it up in the forest to increase illumination for my 5x night vision when exploring at night. It's beam
can be adjusted from 5mm to 35mm. It has an aircraft type aluminium housing and runs on 2 CR-123 lithium batteries that last 7
hours continuous and comes in a very nice padded case. it is used by USCG in various places. I think the officials that didn't want
it used were concerned that the user was not properly qualified.
It is awesome to use in conjunction with night vision to extend the illumination at night. With the beam adjusted to 35mm you can
see very clearly 400 yards. Of course it isn't IR and when shtf you'd definately want to NOT give up your location. It still is a very
important part of my bugout pack as it is very invaluable for many situations. At $250+ it's the low end of what 911Tactical offers
on their website as far as laser optics. They have a great selection of lasers and lights.

Others are 2 colemen 137 lm, 2 surefire 6p's, one mounted to my escort magum attached to a quick release mount
for use on my H&K 9. Also a Fenix TK-35 with 820 lm turbo mode runs 1.5 hours and low which is advertised to run 170 hours with 4 cr-123's. I will lilely get more as I am a light freak. Also have a search light off a Bell 205 that is flown by fresno county sherriffs. It runs at 28 volts. With two 12v batteries in series it makes daylight on a hill 1.5 miles away. I'm working on a housing for it and a buddy we are creating the circuits needed to run it off a single car battery. It will be a blaster.

WOW that is nice !
This isn't a traditional flashlight but works great in all conditions. 911 Tactical also sells laser pointers/locators. Another is by Fenix, a TK-35 which used a cree xm-l led. It's 6 1/2 inches long and has a turbo mode, 820 lumens for 1.5 hours. Has low, medium and strobe and low runs for 170 hours advertised with 4 CR-123's. I have room for more and will look into some of the nice ones posted here.

Wow that is nice !!

There is not enough talk about flashlights in here. I am upset! Seriously though, what's up with that?

I have a few suggestions and I'm always up for some flashlight talk... always always always have a flashlight that runs off of AA batteries. AAA batteries MIGHT be okay, but I'm fairly confident there are less of those...and you could theoretically make an adapter to make your AA battery run off of AAA batteries. Pretty hard to do the other way around.

This is my flashlight of choice, but it does not have a strobe mode. (some do, some don't) It is a semi-cheaply made flashlight, but it is an extremely good value. I have two other flashlights that used to be my EDC but I don't enjoy them as much as this one.

Also, what's everyone's favorite light? How do you plan on powering yours after the SHTF? Discussion time!
Great thread! Thanks for starting it!
I picked up a pack of 3 led lights from Costco. They have two power levels plus a strobe. Strobe works great for disorienting someone.
They are about 200 lumens if I remember correctly.
The pack of three cost me $15.00

I didn't check out the link till now, think i will order one up. Thanks Coche Blanco!!!

Really not planing on using flashlights. But night vision attached to army helmet. Since flashlights will give your position away easily, but they will be good to blind your enemy when confronted. Love to get thermal vision added with night vision for top night vision. When and if it all hits the fan. Movement at night will be the safest. Which includes night hunting and fishing.

Night vision makes you a target. Army helmet makes you a target. Just use your site and learn flashlight shielding techniques. Night vision comes later. Start with a flashlight. Besides the green glowing lights on the front aren't a give away?

LOL, target? And glowing have you used the products since I have no idea what your talking about. Headgear will save your life, and having a helmet won't make you anymore a target than having 2 arms. And when your in an area without power no street lights unless you have a good moon exposure you won't be seeing anything. Also I'm not talking about urban use since cities will be the last place ill ever been.

My friend was special forces, never was his night imaging ever had glowing effects think you watched to many movies.

Also my dad 20 year retired military puts in surveillance systems in for homes and businesses. No light giveaway or glowing.

Please don't insult me with the movies comment. The only problem I have is assuming that you have the cheap ones. And yes they glow. Second of all, anyone one wearing any military gear when shtf is looking for trouble. That's why every survival expert say don't wear anything military.

.

wow! That sound like a must have if there is any chance of getting lost in the woods or on desert island. LOL Just look for a clearing and shine it up at any approaching rescue choppers.

Unfortunately at $250 it will have to be a must WISH I had for right now.

I wish I could find a decent flash light that runs on a renewable power source. Those shake lights and crank lights all have terrible reviews.

Hello gang, I am a definate "flashlight" freak since I started with the dept back in 1993. I got my 1989 GMC 3/4 ton 4x4 with 350 gl water tank in 1995 and it didn't come with a flashlight. I ended up with a rechargeable maglight which i installed in the truck and I thought it was high tech.
A week ago I purchased 4 flashlights from home depot called Defiant 500 lumen tactical flashlight for $22 each. These have the new technology CREE T6 led's. I have a few that are the T3 led's but these T6's are 3 times as large as the T3's and by far much much brighter. I live in the mountains and have a hilltop about 1.2 miles away from me and with this light it lights up the trees on the side of this hill. In total darkness you can see it with good eyes but I also looked with bino's and was amazed to see that for sure the trees were lit up from this light at 1.2 miles away. Remember CREE T6 LED...........
If you want something that is T6 but much brighter in lumens.............go to www.goldengadgets.com, they have 100 lumens thru 5000 lumen flashlights all with the new T6 CREE LED's. I just pruchased 2 flashlights that are 1600 lumens in a size about 8 inches long with L, M, H and strobe functions. It was $19.99 and i'm looking at a 4500 lumen light for just under $100. The only thing that is in question still is you order from sountern cal but most of the items ship out of Japan. Hmmmmmm, I have purchased online before and had items ship from another country which made me cautious but I did get my stuff.
I am looking forward to these new 1600 lumen lights and I'm already very happy with the Defiant 500 lumen lights. For $20 and a nearby homedepot it was worth the trip and the money.
If you know your lumens, 500 lumens for $20 is great. This light is like having a small handheld spotlight as we drove down a country road with the lights of the car off. It was alot brighter than the car lights.
