They were, and still are, under orders from Beijing to cover China's butt at all costs. As usual, the true crime is the cover-up. I just can't help but wonder what the thinking behind covering up something like this. Do they think it will just go away, like an ostrich sticking its head in the sand? Are there other psychological factors at play? Or are there more nefarious reasons?
Germany already using a coronavirus tracking app, UK has one coming soon. Finland announce theirs will be ready in June. My question is if anyone on the prepper forum would download it.
I will not download it because i don't want more people tracking me, especially with the possibility of stigmatising people with the virus or even people stigmatising those who haven't caught it, because some believe in antibody protection.
Next comes the coronavirus passport... Looks like it is nearly time to disappear from the system completely and fake my own death.
There's also the people who are afraid to go to the doctor/hospital and die of things they could have been treated for. I was reading an article about how the number of hospitalizations from other causes was down, and speculations on why that is. Regardless of the exact reason, this would suggest that there are people out there who need to be hospitalized who are not being treated, so they may well die when otherwise they wouldn't.https://news.yahoo.com/official-figures-may-hide-true-virus-death-toll-092903607.html
Mortality rates hint at even higher coronavirus death toll
The official figures include only those deaths attributed to coronavirus, but experts are increasingly looking at data comparing this year's death rates with previous years -- regardless of the official cause.
This "excess deaths" metric raises the spectre of a much higher toll, as it includes fatalities indirectly related to the virus -- for example, people suffering from other illnesses who could not access treatment because of the strain the pandemic has placed on hospitals.

That's probably part of it too. But people are avoiding doctors and hospitals even in Europe where they have "universal" health care. Many of those not going for treatment lost their medical insurance with their job.
I do feel bad for the lower income or people who lost their job and were trying to feed their families on a very limited budget. The ones who want to take care of themselves and not rely on government handouts. There are some who do make their breads and eat bean and rice on a regular basis. It was hard to find flour and other baking ingredients. Somehow, I don't think this 'Caren' falls into that catagory. . . She came acrossed more like the privileged elite. That's probably part of it too. But people are avoiding doctors and hospitals even in Europe where they have "universal" health care.
Apparently lots of people have decided to take up baking while they're staying at home. This did not sit well with a particular "Karen" (who is actually named Caren). I read this article about how one lady believes she's the only one entitled to be baking right now and to feed her children healthy meals. https://heavy.com/news/2020/05/caren-white-stop-baking-bread/
Read it if you want to wonder how ridiculous people can get, and have a good laugh at someone else's expense.
I am still seeing our meat department get wiped out on a daily basis on days I go into work with very few selections left. I haven't gone over to look to see if meat prices have gone up in our area yet. The only thing I ever buy is chicken so I probably couldn't even tell you on the other prices. Normally a 10# bag of leg quarters are $6.40 but I wait for them to go on sale for $3.90. It's been a while since I have seen them at that price though. Recently it was $4.90 but that was before the pandemic. I still have chicken in the freezer and in my stockroom for now. Still have plenty of beef and some pork left in there too. I think Benny will be the next best to go into the freezer unless hunny changes his mind. If he wanted to keep him, that would mean having to get rid of Big Momma and I know he won't do that.https://news.yahoo.com/amphtml/as-m...nt-documents-warn-of-shortages-000446378.html
As meat-processing factories struggle to reopen, govt. documents warn of shortages
As COVID-19 ravages meatpacking plants throughout the country, beef and pork options are dwindling in grocery stores. Consumers are beginning to realize just how much of their meat consumption depends on a flawlessly executed assembly line of some 2,000 workers and a supply chain vulnerable to disruptions. Now, new internal reports from the government warn that some parts of the country may see meat shortages by the end of the month.
“Analysts suggest that meat supply chain disruptions could see 20 percent higher prices than last year and potential spot shortages of meat in certain markets by the end of May,” says an internal government senior leadership briefing slide dated May 12, and reviewed by Yahoo News.
