I found a site with some very useful items on prepping on a budget. Dollar stores give you great deals on little things you may want to stock up on. I won't get into too much detail here because someone did a great article series on the subject. You can check out his series here:

The Dollar Tree is another decent place to pick things up and you can order what you want by the case online and have it delivered to your nearest store for no charge.

That's how I've always looked at things. If it can't keep me or my loved ones alive, what's the point? I was raised a little 'different' from other folks, lol. Asian markets are another place to find things if you take your time and nose around. Do you have any farm stores around you?

I love the place. Its not uncommon to see a farmer filling up his tractor there along with the cars. The Gibson Brothers from Gibson guitars always had their Gibson Music Festival across the street in the field mid summer.

Sounds awesome. Where my kids go to school, it's not uncommon to see a tractor in the parking lot in the spring.

I have a lot of good stuff around me. Cabot Cheese plant, a fish hatchery, Dick's Country Store, Agri-mark, we have an Amish clan that sells goods, Helm Haven Farms (a local beef farm)........

Hey thanks for posting this info because I was wondering how people like me on a fixed low income where gonna afford to prepare =) Now what about shelter?

I'm still trying to figure that part out too. I rent so I can't make major changes to my house or property. When I find a suitable solution, I'll post it. :)

I pick up coloring books or word searches at the Dollar Tree. If your stuck in the house you have to have something to keep your kids busy. Or maybe just yourself too.

I live for the dollar store. I think I have enough toothpaste to last us until the next millennium. lol

u wouldn't believe the stuff u get prepping theres alot of stuff u can get thanks

A true dollar store is great for getting some things. But sometimes it's cheaper to get stuff at Walmart than it is a Dollar General. I think the "Dollar" in the name confuses people into making them think it's cheaper
