Dating a lady prepper...

I met a lady, she is a nurse at an old folks home (stressful hours and hard on the heart, I think).

She's a conspiracy nut. She's some sort of Libertarian Left, I would say, but she thinks all politics is BS, and isn't very political, and not an activist.

We have a lot in common as far as our younger years. She was a childhood runaway, and is familiar with some pretty rough living, so she could totally handle living in a nice Travel Trailer. She wants to travel, and is willing to work (and even has plans on how to do it) in multiple states.

I'm not getting my hopes too high, but I like her.

Her ex is 6'8" lol! I'm basically a midget compared to him, so that will be interesting. And she's taller than me, which is different.

But, she stocks up on water, she has a "go bag", she owns a Springfield XD and practices with it, and takes it apart and cleans it and everything, likes hunting, eats meat, drinks normal American beer, stays in shape because it's part of her preps...

Maybe a keeper?

We'll have to see if she can tolerate me.

Seems like it takes a lot of energy to maintain a relationship, I am not sure I want to put in that much effort. It hasn't worked out very well for me so far, so I will just keep on solo too.

I can somewhat get it. Once you've dived deep down the conspiracy rabbit hole, IF you emerge...you do so with the realization that those really in charge aren't going anywhere, and all you're doing is really just being a slave and picking a new master.

That said, I too accept I'm getting screwed, but at least I'll exercise the choice of dance partner.

From what we've talked about, she's been through some tough times, but isnt broken and that means a lot to me.

Conspiracy stuff! Hmmm not too bad. Man on the grassy knoll, but not pizzagate. We DID land on the moon... So a medium? Conspiracy Theorist. I can take it. After all the political activism of the ex, the low key politics is nice, tbh.

Anyway, we ain't moving in together lol, so I'm good with slow.

But yeah, it's going to take some kind of woman to really be my partner. I think just east of crazy town is my best bet. And it would be nice, to have a real friend to grow old with.

Just have to see how it goes. If I drop off suddenly, assume I got stabbed with a screw driver, and knock one back in my honor.

Oh, and avenge me.

My girlfriend (we live together, and she's also an RN) doesn't buy into this prepping business in the way that I do.

She seems to believe that I border on becoming a hoarder. In fairness to her, we have a small place.

Well, hoarding does have a positive side. My grandfather had a small farm, if he needed something he did not go to town, he had what he needed to make it. One story he had picked up some gears laying in the dirt at the mine, he took them home and nailed them to the barn wall where they stayed for 40 years, then my uncle said he needed a gear for something and lo and behold there it was on the barn wall. 20 years after grandpa died. No need to throw something good away and keep what you have if it has a use, it could save your butt someday.

I guess it could be more distinguished as whether you are one who takes advantage of others or not and whether you have a conscious about it. I don't tend to give when I see someone wanting to take advantage of people's sympathies.

It is best to be easily contented. I think a lot of country women are like that. As long as my 18 year old car works I am ok with that. Someone was here the other day and said they missed all the gadgets on their car. You don't miss it if you never had it.

Men and women both have their weak points. "Takers" use those weaknesses to their advantage. For a woman I'd say it was feeling loved and security, for men, food and sex? You find out what they want or need and make them think they are getting that. I don't have it in me to do that. I would feel too guilty, but I am thinking of how I can live in a future world and get by with it. Like how can I take advantage of a Liberally ran government(when the time comes) and use that to support Conservatives. Like if I can get food stamps but take the extra money that I don't spend on food and donate it to the NRA? Just silly stuff like that.
