Here is why I think "recovered patients" are dying.
During the initial stages, your immune system is learning about the virus and gearing up to fight it. Then the virus goes dark for a few days and there are no symptoms, but it is covertly replicating in the ACE2 receptors in your lungs until your immune system recognizes it. And then your immune system unloads everything it's got on it, destroying the ACE2 receptors in the attempt to fight the virus.
That is catastrophic because the ACE2 receptors serve a vital role in maintaining blood pressure (at this point patients begin to experience dangerously high blood pressure spikes)
Here is an actual expert (I just play on on the Interwebs, LOL) saying basically the same thing:
“Once you have the infection, it could remain dormant with minimal symptoms,” New York University microbiology and pathology professor Philip Tierno Jr. told Reuters. “And then you can get an exacerbation if it finds its way into the lungs.”

I was talking to someone about the mortality rates and trying to determine their accuracy. He suggested that rather than compare with testing rate/million population, to look at tests performed/confirmed case. I think both are relevant to the question but it gives another point of view to consider.

i haven't been believing the .gov sites much less the news media sites when it comes to how many has it.or how many has died from it, what so ever.to many of them are under reporting. or over reporting.to what ever reorting.and there's a certain amount i'll go with when it comes to the 2 local news tv stations i'll go with.

They are relative numbers. They just give you an idea how things are developing but have to be taken with a grain of salt. I've been saying all along that deaths/confirmed cases is a meaningless number in terms of trying to predict how many people will die eventually. That number starts low and constantly goes up as time goes on in an epidemic until well after the peak. People were using the early "mortality rate" of around 2% to say "see, not many people are dying, this is not so bad." That is because they are misunderstanding what the number means.

The mortality rate is still going up in NY.

Suffice it to say a bunch of people are dying...

The numbers aren't much use for two reasons.

Firstly, different countries count deaths differently. Germany, I believe, is only counting those who died of Chinese Flu. Other countries are counting everyone who died with symptoms of Chinese Flu, even if they had other serious health issues.

Secondly, they're only testing for people with the virus, and mostly only testing those who turn up at a hospital. So they know how many people have serious symptoms, but not how many had minor symptoms or none.

The only case I'm aware of where the entire population was tested for the virus and the end results are known is the cruise ship, with around a 1% death rate in an older population than normal for most countries. And they still didn't do antibody testing there, so the actual case rate could have been even higher than the virus tests showed.

Which brings up the reason the USA always appears bad on new born mortality rates. We count every single child...no matter how young. Other counties don’t. In fact, some don’t count them until the baby is 30 days old.

Fewer and fewer states in this category because the death rates in top three states are pulling away from the rest of the country making these states dominate the statistics, especially New York which now has more reported deaths than the UK. Washington, which topped the list at one time, and Louisiana which was high on the list are now both off the list. Kentucky also topped the list at one time and now just barely makes it onto the bottom of the list.
