The Three Gorges Dam is what caused the copper shortages that made the price of copper go so high people were stealing wiring and air conditioners. This exacerbated the Obama ammo shortages because copper for bullet jacketing was already scarce.

Not just copper but steel and other products were short worldwide during construction. This was a massive project. When they stopped the flow of the rivers to fill the resivour there was a measurable wobble in the rotation of the planet. If this thing does go south you certainly don’t want to be south of it!

Just the hydroelectric part of the dam, not including the locks and the ship lift, is over a mile wide. The water level above the dam at capacity is 360 feet higher than the river level below the dam.

If this thing let's loose, it will be horrific. Everything downstream all the way to Shanghai could be wiped out, including the Wuhan labs. Some experts say that it could actually trigger earthquakes from the sudden changes in pressure on the surface of the earth.
