People should learn to live with only things that they need, not things they want. Also capitalism and all its excesses are causing too many problems. Oh and I would ban all forms of loans. You want something you save for it.

yup,we have this car tax here...it was supposed to be a temp measure and end within a couple of years...guess what, it never did..
A consumption tax like a sales tax is probably the most equitable. For people struggling to make ends meet, most of their income goes to housing and basic food costs which should be either exempt or taxed at a lower rate. Here in Georgia, groceries are exempt from state sales tax.

Wait a minute, you just said that people shouldn't be able to get "things they want". But then you say if someone wants something they should "save for it". And what kind of problems are caused by capitalism? Do you mean like bringing people out of poverty? Like if you work hard enough you will get ahead? Things like that?
I mean if people really want something that is non essential then they should be taxed at an extortionate amount. The main problem of capitalism is that it has turned humans in to consumers of crap we don't need and that causes excess waste which despite what some people believe does damage the environment.
Sooo, total CONTROL of all people by a few, eh? What about self control? What about people choosing their own wants and desires?

This thread was started about punishing the wealthy. I am not in favour of punishing people who are successful. I was just suggesting an alternate way to make a sustainable economy. One other option could be to give all newborn an equal number of credits, say 1 million and you can spend it how you like through your life but when it has all gone you won't get a penny more. That would teach some self control. If some make more along the way then good for them, if some 性交 it up then tough luck. No inheritance, just reset the clock.
Then they should have consequences. Not there consequences for everyone else.

So who is going to decide what someone "needs"? I'm sure that I have some things that some people might think are excessive. But what I buy or have is nobody's f#!$ing business.
When have dictators not killed millions by starvation, gassing or bullets to the head? Governments have ZERO moral right to tell others what to do! After all, why would the “masses” be dumb to you, but government not be??
So right Arctic. Bet I could make a list of “not needed” that many would go berserk over. Toilet paper...not really needed! Ditto with any alcohol or beer. LOL

No inheritance?!? So what happens to the millions that I have worked and saved for? Under your system I wouldn't be allowed to leave it to my kids, or my dog? I think there are already perfect systems in place for peole such as yourself. Cuba, China, N Korea, Venezuela come to mind.
Ditto Arctic! I will be damned if my husband and I will leave our substantial wealth and properties to anyone but our children!
No inheritance means no more family farms.
I post for discussion not because i believe it would be the solution but it seems people like to respond with personal attacks.

Conservative people don't want to discuss socialist / communist ideas they are happy with what they have, you forcing the discussing will cause the reaction, because they are fed up with socialist / communist ideas being forced down their gullets.
Try thinking about it this way. If you had sacrificed many, many things for years and literally worked your entire LONG life for what you have, believe me when I say you would not take any discussion lightly of it being STOLEN by worthless, lazy, fast talking politicians for the benefit of those who DID NOT earn it! Trust me. No one would.
That does not mean we don’t freely GIVE money to those in need. We very much do! But no politician has the moral right to steal others fairly earned wealth!
